  I am in a fairly good mood today.  Yesterday was marked the first time I have been sober through the holidays in 16 years.The holidays were busy yet emotional.  But I hung through it.  I am quite grateful for the 12-step program that has meant a lot to me since September.  I have a few friends now who I can call.  That's a pretty big deal.  I've been living in this city for 9 years and this is the most I've hung around other people.  It seems that beneath it all, people really enjoy my...

  It just hit me what codependency actually is.  Going through divorce which has made me rethink everything I know (or thought I knew) about relationships.  And man... yea... it's been a real mess.  I always did/do so much for other people, then felt bitter and resentful that no one could reciprocate.  But now I see, well, why would they?  They were getting what they thought they needed at my financial, physical, and emotional expense.But what about the other side?  I always overextended...

  Charting progress.  I am still sober.  It is almost four months. Some things get clearer.  I went to the doctor for the first time in three years.  He said I am a healthy man.The only major changes left to make are in my mind.  New ways of thinking.I am still going to AA meetings and I finally got a sponsor.  My sponsor is a happy person, encouraging and warm.  Something about that I need right now.The house -- not much changes.  Who the hell is this person I married?  I always heard...

  I took two weeks off of work.  October is my favorite month.  I wanted to enjoy - no - savor it.Somethings went really well.  I got to a meeting almost every day.  That helped because normally when I have idle time, I drink or get caught up in something dumb. Or I just do mindless, busy work.  And I really didn't want to do that this time.The downside -- I thought my STBX and I could finally sit down, unscrew our lives long enough to benefit the kids.  As if by clockwork, another crisis...

  I've been living in the same city for 8 years.  It's the longest time I ever lived anywhere since being a kid. I love it here.  The people are friendly, there are many beautiful things to do.  I've rarely had any problems with anyone.  Yet I never hang out here because I've been working so much.But this past few weeks, (and really since joining D.S.), I have been taking steps to come out of my shell and hang out around other people.This would seem crazy to many people.  I am well-liked...

  Today is a good day.  It's always a good day to be alive.  I have a few days off and I'm trying something I never really did before... just slowing down and enjoying them.I went for a nice hike in the woods yesterday.  The fall colors are just coming in.  I did some praying, which was nice.  The only time I really feel close to something spiritual is when I'm alone in nature.I know that I am happy and healthier than a year ago.  This has been a year of incredible change.  I never knew...

  Today would be my 10th wedding anniversary.  She was preparing for a weekend away for work.  I slept in which I never do. Had a day off.  Rare for me.It's been such a busy year.  I had some down time.  I set a large stack of books next to the window.  It's been rainy and foggy for days here.  I read two pages and fell asleep listening to the rainfall.I woke up in time to head to an AA meeting.  Every time I do, I feel weird when I first come in.  Then people get to talking about life...
