About Me
I'm bipolar and have PTSD but my most recent challenge is that I've had my esophagus removed. I had Barrets esophagus so severe that they had to remove it in June of 2024. That brought new challenges, specifically not being able to swallow all the time. I have a feeding tube in my tummy that helps me supplement my calorie intake but not being able to swallow consistently causes me a lot of stress sometimes. I'm working with a GI surgeon and a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to manage my anxieties surrounding the espophajectomy. Things are going pretty well but my goal is to be able to swallow all the time. I'm just not there yet.
