With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.

Hi, My name is Sam and I'm new to this group. I am 23 and have had trich since I was 12. Over the years I have tried many times to stop, however it's only this past year that I have started to research ways of stopping, and have been really determined to do it. I plan on doing so with a combination of understanding, will-power, exercise, trying the John Kender diet, and seeing a therapist. I love designing, illustrating, cooking, extreme sports, exercising, seeing live music and reading. I would love to provide others with encouragement, and maybe get some support when I fall.

I know.. Trust me I know! That's why.... CONSTANT VIGILANCE!

And I also know sometimes it will get the better of me, I'll lose my motivation. But I'll always get back on track.

I'm so proud of you!! Back in the driver's seat. Yes, it does get easier, but there will always be bumps in the road. I feel really good most of the time, and then I hit points like yesterday, and right now, in fact, when the urges flare up again. Just enough to remind me, as you say, we must keep constant vigilance. Onwarrrrrrrrrd!!

Hehe thanks Alex, it just happened one day (35 days ago). I just felt like "YEAH LET'S DO THIS!!!"

Oh yes Phoebe, but as long as I have my willpower those flare ups aren't so bad, I've just got to ride them out. But sometimes our willpower will falter, sometimes we just won't care as much. And gee, how do we prevent that? How do I prevent what happened to me at the end of last year from happening again? I don't think I can. That's the scary part.

Ooh have come very close to pulling a hair several times this afternoon and tonight. Sooo close just then. But I want to not pull more than I want to pull. Ever so disappointing putting down my hand though....

    My therapist really knocked some sense into me last Friday about my spending.  She said that there are needs and there are wants.  She said that there is always going to be cheap stuff to buy, but do I need it?  The answer is mostly "no".  So today, I am taking back some things that I bought online at Kohl's, namely a 9 x 12 rug and a quilt for my bed.  I also bought sheets that I don't need...
