Beating Trich Community Group
You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.

Hi, My name is Sam and I'm new to this group. I am 23 and have had trich since I was 12. Over the years I have tried many times to stop, however it's only this past year that I have started to research ways of stopping, and have been really determined to do it. I plan on doing so with a combination of understanding, will-power, exercise, trying the John Kender diet, and seeing a therapist. I love designing, illustrating, cooking, extreme sports, exercising, seeing live music and reading. I would love to provide others with encouragement, and maybe get some support when I fall.

I don't really know how to label this but I having a rough week and I can't say it's one thing.... I have a lot on my plate which is nothing new and I try to cope in many positive ways and do but I still have my moments. My kids more so my daughters talk to me about everything which I know it's cause of comfort and we are close.... however I really struggle with the venting about their dad which...

Here's to success and a wonderful hair cut!
I agree that you shouldn’t start your count over, I would do the same thing. It might just be a number, but it’s such a great motivator that you shouldn’t reset it over a few baby hairs who were ready to come out anyway.
Keep up your amazing work, you’re such an inspiration :)
So yeahhh gonna start count over. Ah well onwards and upwards. 2 months was pretty darn good. I'm not feeling shitty about starting over, it's just a number. I know I'm a trich star. Haven't pulled at all today and it's midday. I consider what happened yesterday controlled pulling. I allowed myself to do it. Gave permission. Cos I was flipping out.
Anyway that's what I'm up to!
CONSTANT VIGILANCE!!!!!!!!!!!
I made the same mistake yesterday; I thought I could easily start my pickfree again since I wasn’t picking much over the last week. But never underestimate day 1!
Constant vigilance indeed!
I hope your tests come back okay, that you can fully focus on being pullfree again :)
You know you can do it, cause you’re the tricSTAAAAAAR!!
By the way, you are not a hypochrondriac. I learned this one through cognitive behavior therapy treatment and what actually happens is we are sensory impacted with physical manipulation of chemical changes that come about due to "stress", whether it is happy, excitement, or it is worry, unknown, and if it has anxiety prone situations involved, ten fold the physical sensations (they are real, not imagined, either).
How trich is affected by the sensory impact is we soothe through rubbing our scalp...and when that does not work, we pull to get the sensation out of the way, and often the hair comes out. Thus, the trich goes active, and then we have the vicious cycle in place.
You are beautiful and your strength to keep at this gives me hope as well as everyone else!
You can do this!
Happy Valentine's Day!
How did the haircut go?
Health scares are scary. To the core. Don't beat yourself up. I hope everything is okay.
Oh, and that feeling of being overwhelmed? The worst. It is especially difficult for perfectionists, as many of us are.
I'm with you sistah!!! xo
Yeah never underestimate day one, you're right Lien.
The haircut went well Phoebe! Also, my henna colour has settled in nicely, and beautiful deep brownish auburn colour. So happy with it. I promise I'll upload some pics soon. I'm so lazy!
Ugh just doing some work and basically waiting til it's the afternoon so I can call my doctor to find out my results. Blech. Anxious. Been pulling a couple of hair and not caring cos I'm anxious! I hate the unknown. Ack.
Once the unknown will be gone, you can get back on track.
I wish I could just give you a massive hug and tell you everything will be all right :)
I think we all know what you are going through.. i dont know about you, but it sounds like you did what i have done in the past and given yourself the excuse to pull becuase of what you are going through.. and that is totally understandable.. I think trich should be spelt with a K, as it has its little way of sneaking back in on us when we are feeling most vulnerable, these are perhaps the times when we need to be at our strongest, i feel that if we can get through these moments without pulling.. we have conquered it. I know that what we have is more than a habit, I am only 3 weeks pf.. and i know you have much more experience than me.., but, i dont know about you, but my brain plays tricks with myself and actually tells me , its ok, Luleee, you can pull for bit, (heck, you dont smoke etc etc, go on.. treat yourself.. you know you want to.. etc ). I swear this little voice has been afraid to speak up in the last 3 weeks as it knows it will not win..(and i have all my strong friends here beating it away) but perhaps when i am feeling down again.. it is just waiting for me to fall .. I think you have proved that you have the power in you to beat this demon, please dont think this little slip up as a failure, but rather as a learning curve.. !! (the trich just misses you.. it is jealous cos you have us now hahah)
you have been a fantastic help and inspiration to others... you are AMAZING and dont you forget it !!
