You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.

Hi, My name is Sam and I'm new to this group. I am 23 and have had trich since I was 12. Over the years I have tried many times to stop, however it's only this past year that I have started to research ways of stopping, and have been really determined to do it. I plan on doing so with a combination of understanding, will-power, exercise, trying the John Kender diet, and seeing a therapist. I love designing, illustrating, cooking, extreme sports, exercising, seeing live music and reading. I would love to provide others with encouragement, and maybe get some support when I fall.

That's a good idea...I really wish I had photos of my hair when it was really bad at the end of 2010..

There's something else at work as well... For example, I'm really feeling the urge to pull today - Center top/back "corner", where there is a whorl of hair. Stranding perilously close. The other thing that stops me, is that I don't want to trigger the Behavior again. I don't want to be a puller again, and I know that if I intentionally pull, I will be right back there.

Yes the behaviour can be so easily triggered. Just one hair after 10 years pf, I'm sure could trigger it.

    My therapist really knocked some sense into me last Friday about my spending.  She said that there are needs and there are wants.  She said that there is always going to be cheap stuff to buy, but do I need it?  The answer is mostly "no".  So today, I am taking back some things that I bought online at Kohl's, namely a 9 x 12 rug and a quilt for my bed.  I also bought sheets that I don't need...
