Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
The other posters are right. You have to accept your pain so as to not let it rule your life. It's a paradox but that's the way it seems to be. I hope that you have or can find a support group in addition to this cyber one and make new friends who'll give you some support just like your mother did (and also perhaps have some fun with them, like goint to a movie, or?)
Here's a quote for Stephen Hawkins I keep on my desk because I have to look at it often
:
"My advice to other disabled people would be, concentrate on things your disability doesn't prevent you doing well, and don't regret the things it interferes with. Don't be disabled in spririt as well as physically"
Chronic pain is a harsh disability, particularly because it's so often invisible to others, but as your new friends in this site advise you, if you can live with it, then there will be a lot more to life than this pain....
ktl86, you've heard it.....this is the place. We all suffer. Thank you for being here. You got some great feedback.
Katikam, Good to see you again!!
The usual faithfuls, you guys never seize to amaze me.
I hope you all have a great day!!
Hugs,
David.
It is hump day and my favorite day of the week why you ask well it is sort of silly but it is garbage day here and for some reason I like to clean on this day because I hate garbage piling up outside and rather have it go out to the curb, I know weird right.
It is like I like to purge things and it makes me feel better to get things out of here.
Ktl86,
I hope you find the support you need here and I can not imagine having to go this at such a young age but I am sure you can do it as you sound like a very strong girl and all you need is some determination. Take one day at a time and always make it better then the day before. Since you are so young I would go into a college and see what you can do as far as your limitations so you do not have to give up on a career and have to go on disability I think that might not be the thing for you as you have so much ahead of you. There may be a career that you can do physically and not even know it the college counselor may have some suggestions for you.
Another day another dollar isnt that how the saying goes I guess for us it is another day and another day of pain but what can you do but grin and bear it.
Have a ton of things to do but having a hard time with insomnia so getting things done during the day is hard and all I want to do is crawl back into bed.
It has been an difficult couple of days. Since my bad reaction to Lyrica I have continued to have mobility problems. My doctor, who has been out sick herself, called through a office assistant to say she wanted me to continue taking the Lryica at a low dosage. I just could not face another episode like the one I had so I said no. I have not heard back from her since yesterday. Thanks again for all the feedback you gave me and for your support. Hugs, Cathy
It must be in the air I had a bad last few days and a horrid night. Have to pack for "vacation" pace myself. It's liking walking on a broken leg, but it is a broken knee.
You take care and I hope you start feeling better soon, Cathy.
Big Hug
Janie
Well I went to the surgeon today for my final post-op for the spinal cord stimulator. They took x-rays and everything looked great.
Now the not so great news.......My work restrictions:
1. No lifting more than 25 pounds.
2. No overhead work
3. PERMANENTLY!!
This may be a problem at work. I didn't anticipate a permanent restriction like this. I asked about that type of test w/c gives to see how impaired you are and he said that I will not take that test. Trying to lift too much could cause damage to the area in my neck where the stimulator paddle is located. This will be in his report.
Well, I'm kinda worried about my job, but the doctor thought I was more important........I'll keep y'aal posted.
David.
You can apply for new jobs while you are working and you have a wonderful personality.
Sending positive vibes your way.
Its such great news re outcome of your surgery. Yahoo!
And sorry about possible permanent job restrictions. Thats a drag but your doc is right you, your health, is a hell of a lot more important.
Also, I wanted to thank you for starting this thread. I think Ive read all of the thousand plus responses. The caring, experience & honesty blows me away.
Hugs. xxx
I am doing a bit better today, still running a low grade fever and when I bend it hurts alot, but I do feel better.
David- I am so glad things are looking up a bit for you, I hope your old job will let you work with your restrictions, or maybe it's time to change careers, You sound so easy going, I think you could do anything you would like. maybe now is the time, not to work a really physical job.
Cw- I am so glad you are getting over your episode with that med, I do hope the doctor, will give you something else that will not make you feel awful.
Blessings to All Rhonda
