Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
I've been up and about all day now and my back is getting pretty sore. Gonna lay back and do some photo shop work now.
Hope everyone is having a good day,
Lisa
First off, David, I was so sorry to hear that you were treated like that at your place of work. You will certainly be kept in my thoughts and prays as you deal with this. And please let us know how it goes.
Lisa, I think you are incredible to work so hard to get fit to go back to work. I cheer you on and admire your cando attitude.
Today was my second appointment with my new neurologist. This meeting, like the first, went very well. She spent 2 1/2 hours with me in her office. And we covered everything of major I
Importance. I cannot believe my good fortune in finding such a wonderful doctor, who is local, and so caring. I go back in two weeks after some bloodwork is done. I think I am really on the road to a better quality of life. If I am dreaming I don't want to wake up!
Thank you all for your kind messages of support, I so appreciate everyone if you! I have exhausted myself though so am going to rest.
Hugs to all, Cathy
So far everything is OK. Of course being workers' comp related, who knows??????????
I hope everybody else is doing OK. All ya'll mean so much, to making it through tough times.
Hugs,
David.
Lisa, you are such a trooper. I really admire that in you, but don't break your back by rushing thins.
Cathy, you are so dear. You deserve a doctor like you've funally found!
Tired doesn't even begin to describe how I feel tonight. I only did two clients this morning and I was wrecked. Late this afternoon, I decided I should pull a few more of the montrous weeds that are trying to climb my pole beans. You'd think I'd remember what it did to me a couple days ago. I'm an idiot. Ny neck, shoulder and side of my back when into painful spasms again.
I did the next dumb thing and took some extra meds so I could add nausea and dizziness to my misery.
Did I say, I'm an idiot?
Hugs...ouch, gentle ones,
Cherry
I started my day at 3:00 AM...pretty much normal for me. It gives me time to catch up on everything that was posted during the night.
For those in pain, I wish for you a bit of relief, today.
For those who are discouraged, we've all battled that feeling and understand.
For those who just need an extra hug,,,you've got it!
Wishing you all a day of minimal pain and maximum joy,
Cherry
@Katikam......Please share a little bit more about how you're feeling. It's important to reach out. If you want to talk send me a friend request, since your account is private. I hope you'll be OK.
I'm at home today, feeling OK with the SCS working the way that it supposed to.
I wish all a low pain day, and invite everyone once again to come here and let us know a little bit about how it's going.
P.S............Rocco pooped outside this morning!!! We are working on that.
Hugs,
David.
David to me that sounds like a good set up and as long as it keeps civil which it should since they know you have a lawyer and they should be lucky to have you at all.
Lisa, is there a way for you to get up and walk around at work? I would try to stay on the long term as long as possible I went back to work to early from my car accident and that was a big mistake it caused more problems and after surgery I had to go on disability.
Doing the same today and plan on calling doctor to make appt for next week. I am not looking forward to it but this leg is getting worse and it is hard for me to walk on it but I am pushing it because I know just sitting around will make it stiff and that is the wrong direction to.
Getting the weekend to myself so that is good I will not have to run around and will be able to go at my own pace. When you have seven people in your household a weekend with almost every gone is exciting. The weather is supposed to be nice till Sunday so hopefully I can get outside to.
Take care and may everybody have a low pain day
Hank
Hey David... how about this thread!! Here comes #1000, so you have every right to feel proud of the positive difference you have made on this board!
Your caring for others, and the support you give so freely, surely puts you in the running for the DS equivalent of the Nobel Peace Prize... which I do hereby award to you on this momentous day when your thread reaches 1000 posts. Long may it continue to give the feeling of "being part of a caring community", to all who post here.
I hope you are not off work for too long David. I know workers comp will cover you $ wise... but I don't think it's good for any of us to sit around with nothing to do, if we are well enough to focus on work, or something else, to give us a sense of purpose. Not that you don't give so much here, that it must give you lots of positive feelings.
Lisa I think you are doing the right thing to make yourself functional again if it's possible. Slowly and gently increasing the amount of "stress" that you submit your body to will build strength and tone, where you have probably lost it due to inactivity while you've been off work. There is also a proven method known as "pacing" which is much more than just doing something for a while and then resting. It has been proven to increase your bodies tolerance to pain... I learnt about it when I did a pain management course. I'll send you a mssg explaining it tomorrow... it's late at night here, so I won't do it now.
Cherry honey at some point you are going to have to learn to accept that your body has limitations now. You will not be able to manage your pain at all... and no amount of trying different meds with increasing doses is going to help you much, until you reach that acceptance point. So the sooner you can get there the better. Have you found a new dr yet? Sorry, as I haven't been around much in the last 2 weeks I might have missed that. If I was you I'd also start searching for a pain psychologist too... they would be able to help you a lot with the acceptance part... and in working out how to make changes in your life so that you are not constantly increasing your pain level by the things you do.
Katikam it's good to see you post here. In the cp group we like to hear from people who haven't posted much, because we know how isolating having cp can be... and at this thread people who have been reading but not posting are particularly welcome. It would be good if you told us a little more about yourself and what you are dealing with. Do you realise that having a private profile means no one in the group can send you the hugs and support you say you need? If you set your account to "just ds members" and don't put any identifying info on your profile it really is quite safe and you will find generally you'll get more support.
Well it's very late here so I gotta go on up to bed. I will spend some more time catching up with people here tomorrow.
`*Loving Hugs & Sunshine Smiles*
Take care... from Gaye... xxx
First of all, I am so sorry for all of the pain and crap that you endure with the WC case, I have never heard one person say; "I had the best Doctor, case manager, etc. with workers comp, it is pathetic!
Second,
This is the first time that I have needed a big hug, I haven't slept due to my knee pain, and worrying about my 4 legged child; Malcolm, and I have to go to work... for the first time in my life, after going through cancer twice, I am seriously clinically depress and ready to give up. I am getting help, so no one worry about me, but I am like; "God, do I deserve all this?", it is wrong to ask God that, but I am at the end of my rope, and as you know, I am not one to say that. Thanks for listening......
PS , so happy to here that you are calling the doctor. If you don't down play your pain, numbest, and concern you might just get in today if you call first thing this morning. Haunting you!!!!! Lol hugs and prayers
