You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.
Hi, My name is Sam and I'm new to this group. I am 23 and have had trich since I was 12. Over the years I have tried many times to stop, however it's only this past year that I have started to research ways of stopping, and have been really determined to do it. I plan on doing so with a combination of understanding, will-power, exercise, trying the John Kender diet, and seeing a therapist. I love designing, illustrating, cooking, extreme sports, exercising, seeing live music and reading. I would love to provide others with encouragement, and maybe get some support when I fall.

I got my haircut earlier today, and I'm rather happy with it! My boyfriend thinks it looks really good. I'll put up a pic soon :)
The stylist was soooo lovely, she told me my hair looked fine and that she just wanted me to relax and be comfortable. All the other stylists were very nice, and no one looked at me funny. It was great!
I was a bit uncomfortable at the beginning having to walk across the salon with my pre-cut hair out of it's bun, but that was it.

The stylist was looking at my fringe, and asked if I cut it that way. With no shame at all I said "no, I pulled it all out and it's growing back".
I got great reactions of my sister and my dad about my hair :) :) :) :) :)
My dad was VERY shocked.
Did you go with the shorter bob, or is it still long? We need pictures!! Ahem, anyway, I'm sure you look absolutely stunning.

It's so easy to maintain too :) I can let it air dry when I'm over in Europe YAY! I can walk around with my hair wet YAY! I can swim without mascara in my hair and without freaking out that I'll lose my hair tie and bobby pin YAY!
I got out of the shower today and walked around with my hair wet for the first time in 10 years, maybe more!
My mum said she wished she had my curls! Just amazing. She has no clue the work it took to get these curls back.
I promise I'll get pics to you soon, I'm just really busy at the moment, and I want to take some good ones that do my hair justice.
6 days til we leave, ohmygosh. I signer up to smart traveler a while ago and I have to say I'm absolutely loving receiving warnings to exercise caution in pretty much every country we're visiting due to terrorist threats. Yeah..... Also everyone's bloody rioting in Europe!
I wouldn't worry too much - but I would avoid London until it stops completely.
Sooooooooooooooo glad I live in the countryside - although there were loads of police on the street in my little town (no problems think they were there to reassure us)

On a more superficial note, argh, styling my hair is hard! Haha, I mean, compared to shoving it up into a bun. I had the same hairstyle forever, and now, I have options! I have to use product. I forgot how effing annoying curls are, if you want them to look amazing. Got a super crazy day, involving design work, design meeting, catching a train, working my last shift as a waitress (before holiday), and visiting my grandpa. I love my grandpa so much, but I just sit there thinking of all the things I need to do and I get antsy.
