Beating Trich Community Group
You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.

Hi, My name is Sam and I'm new to this group. I am 23 and have had trich since I was 12. Over the years I have tried many times to stop, however it's only this past year that I have started to research ways of stopping, and have been really determined to do it. I plan on doing so with a combination of understanding, will-power, exercise, trying the John Kender diet, and seeing a therapist. I love designing, illustrating, cooking, extreme sports, exercising, seeing live music and reading. I would love to provide others with encouragement, and maybe get some support when I fall.

I don't really know how to label this but I having a rough week and I can't say it's one thing.... I have a lot on my plate which is nothing new and I try to cope in many positive ways and do but I still have my moments. My kids more so my daughters talk to me about everything which I know it's cause of comfort and we are close.... however I really struggle with the venting about their dad which...

I accidentally pulled another hair yesterday. There was resistance when it came out, it did not just slip out.
I'm thinking of starting a new pf-a-thon, on top of this one, if that makes sense. I'm going to keep going on my current pf-a-thon, but from TODAY on, I"m aiming for 100% pull free. The next time I pull a hair, I think I might reset my whole pf-a-thon. If it's not for another few months then I may not.
I just want to be able to say I'm COMPLETELY pull free. And two hair so far in to my pull free a thon is NOT OK!!!!!!!!!!!!! I should know by now. And I DO know by now.

Day one pf
I'm so excited for you! This is a big step. You = Awesome, end of story. =)
And I agree with Tired. Other customers are too preoccupied with their own hair to notice yours.
I like the idea of having two separate pull-free-a-thons. I know that if (trying not to say when!) I do slip up, I'll definitely divide it into areas. It's kind of the same thing, except not really, but it kind of is.
Hooray for awesome haircut! :)
Emmy, hm yeah I like the idea too...I would start a new pf-a-thon, but I feel like that would be ignoring the supremely excellent job I've done over the past 8 months. I am determined to do my absolute best not to pull any more hairs. But maybe starting over is a good thing. Ugh! It's so tiring thinking about it!

I also like the bit that says that just like how some people don't have the ability to hold their breath for 3 minutes, they don't have the ability to be completely pull free for a very long amount of time. But with time and practice even these people can learn how to manage their pulling WAY better. There is hope for eeeeeeveryone :)

I agree that for some of us, the urge to pull take time and practice and determination to find the "off" switch.
Hugs, and have fun!
Breathe in.. And out... And in.... And out..
So so glad my perfect boy willbe there. I'm gonna buy him a milkshake!
Keep your head up! You can do it xxxxx
That’s a great metaphor, it’s good for explaining the urge. But the thing is that you can’t go without breathing forever, you NEED oxygen. We don’t NEED to pull or pick.
I love the idea that we can learn how to manage trich, there’s still hope for meeeee :D yaay :p
