With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.

Hi, My name is Sam and I'm new to this group. I am 23 and have had trich since I was 12. Over the years I have tried many times to stop, however it's only this past year that I have started to research ways of stopping, and have been really determined to do it. I plan on doing so with a combination of understanding, will-power, exercise, trying the John Kender diet, and seeing a therapist. I love designing, illustrating, cooking, extreme sports, exercising, seeing live music and reading. I would love to provide others with encouragement, and maybe get some support when I fall.

Going well, I'm just enjoying this period between Christmas and new year where I get to hang out with my family and friends :)

Yes lien I did it :) like I said to Phoebe, it's been kind of easy.. Of course I've resisted many, many urges. But I've just really not wanted to pull.

Ahhhhh, just cut off 4 super kinky hairs that have been bugging me for, I kid you not, at least 5 months.

Sam I always do that! When I play with my hair (bad bad bad!) some hairs become like corkscrews at the end and then I can't resist them. I cut them rather than pull, usually.

Hurrah! Cutting the hair is still pull-free, since you are working with the hair, not against it. So proud of you! Keep strong, you can do this!

    My therapist really knocked some sense into me last Friday about my spending.  She said that there are needs and there are wants.  She said that there is always going to be cheap stuff to buy, but do I need it?  The answer is mostly "no".  So today, I am taking back some things that I bought online at Kohl's, namely a 9 x 12 rug and a quilt for my bed.  I also bought sheets that I don't need...
