  It took me years to admit to myself that scratching myself was self injuring.  After all, you can't kill yourself by scratching yourself.  So the real, deep, raw, pain I was feeling during the break up of my 22 year marriage was pushed aside until I, when after ten years I self-injured in the same way!  So having to go into a nursing home for a brief time, give up my much loved cat, saying as I wept that I was willimg to take 100 timrs as much pain if my Baby Kitty Of Adorableness wouldn't...
