Thank you all for your messages, hugs and prayers. You have no idea how much it means to me. You guys are the best, seriously. I feel like I have my family here. I haven't had a chance to go back and read everything yet, but I hope alot of you are doing better with your pain.
I went to my Moms' for a couple of days, which I do maybe 5 times a month. She is 83 and very active, healthy as a horse (?);is that what they say? Sounds funny when I say it, healthy as a horse. LOL
Doesn't take much to entertain MaryKathryn,LOL
Anyway, she gets lonely, so with my pain levels so high lately, I have to limit myself. The cold temps in the morning are really making my fibromyalgia flare up. The fibro fog is awful, I feel like I have mush for a brain. My family Dr. (who I saw this morning) asked me if I was taking my Alzheimers' pills and I said yes. He said they might have to up the dose if I continue like this :( Pretty scary....
All my love and support to all of you here, my dearest family... I care about each and every one of you. I pray that your pain levels stay low. I know this time of year is hard on alot of us. Take care my friends, and gentle hugs to all.
Love you all,
MaryKathryn
I don't post as much as I like but I enjoy reading what everyone is up to and how everyone is feeling.
I've been brain dead and lifeless for about 4 days now. Tomorrow is another day and may it be a good one for all!
Just stopping by. Another busy day at work. I'm on a hard hat construction jobsite. It's kind of demanding, but I'm good with it........so far. I feel good being back and I'm hoping it works out.
I hope ya'll are doing OK. I'm on a job that has no internet access, but I do have my phone and check the posts........so keep them coming if you can.
All those in need, hang in there. We can start our day over as many times as we need to.
Big Hugs,
David.
You and I must be on the same schedule. It is 12:52 am and, I feel like I have been electrocuted by 9 Volt batteries. I know I overdid it yesterday with cleaning and cooking but, it sure felt good. Paying for it now though. Hmmmmm, maybe sleep will come.
I'm still not sleeping well, I think maybe I'm trying to set a record for no sleep.
It's freezing here this morning and I can feel it in my bones. Amazingly I don't feel tired even though I've only slept 4 hours in the last few days. I'm hurting pretty bad this morning, I hope this isn't what my whole day will be like.
Sounds like I need to get on here more often when I can't sleep. Sounds like the problem of no sleep is catching. Maybe we should set up an insomniacs chat.
No plans today, just the way I like it.
Mike
I don't want to join the insomniacs club. Been there and done that many times. In fact, I am headed to bed shortly which is early for us.
Yesterday, I wrote a long post about my son that I didn't post last night.....asking advice if you would tell his doctor or doctors that he is an addict and alcoholic and that you feel he is using his current condition to seek drugs. Well, I went ahead and did tell both the emergency room doctor and his doctor this am. My husband disgreed with me doing so to the ER nurse and the MD. He was in pain because he could not void after having a cystoscopy earlier yesterday. So of course when you call at 4:30 in the afternoon, you get sent to the er. WE waited for over five hours and the MD told him pee or get cathed but he was not giving him drugs. He has been complaining of pain for the last two months, has gone to urgent care three or four times, the er two or three, his own md and last but not least, an urologist. This pain is a result of unprotected sex. He has lived life very carelessly for the last seven years and he is just twenty one. He is currently misusing prescription vicodin. Mark also told the er doc that he would put a bullet to his head if he didn't help him at which point I gasped and said NO MARK No. Tears welled up' thinking what a horrible mom I have been. The MD offered a psych consult and I begged Mark to do this and that really ticked my hubby off.
My husband told the ER doctor off last night as did Mark and left angrlly. I stayed in the room and cried for a few minutes and the nurse would not let me leave until I talked to a crisis worker and the MD. I assumed Bob had gone home with Mark. We had taken two cars. He waited in the waiting room and I have to give him kudos for doing so. I also must say that he very rarely loses his temper. I just did not want to appear as a mother who is denial. Been there and done that.
So this morning, I gave up my morning (not trying to get mother of the year) to take him to the urologist office. He had a lot of urine in his bladder that needed to get out or was going to hurt his kidneys. I told the assistant about his drug and rehab history, saying that I believed that there was pain today but that he did not tolerate pain well and that he also misused prescription pain medicine. and that he was also drinking and taking the vicodin at the same time. They ended up giving him a valium and a shot of torodol before they were going to cath him. At that point I turned him over to dad and went to my volunteer job at my church. I also didn't think it was appropriate for me to be in the room during the procedure. Well, he asked if he could try to void one more time and it took thirty minutes but he did.
My husband and I already had an appt booked with our counselor who has been extremely supportive of us and our family as a whole. I also called this morning and left a message on his machine to give him a heads up on all that had happened in the last few days. Bob was late and the therapist and I talked about how his denial that we were back in the same boat as before was really damaging to our marriage and our family unit. He was very direct with Bob when he got there and that just put Bob in more denial. He always has a comeback. I do not know what I am going to do.....Pls know that I will not abandon my family but I do say that I cannot live like this much longer. After the session, I did feel some hope again and he and I went on a date to Wally World
I am getting the high sign for bedtime...so my question to you is.....Would those of you who are parents ratted her own child out. Did I do the right thing or did I make a difficult situation worse....Thanks in advance for reading this. I appreciate it. I just needed to get it out to someone. Her isto a better Thurs.
Melinda
It's a fine line we walk. As a Mother, I know I would do whatever I had to for the safety of my child.
I would rat on my child in a NY minute if I knew it would help him. It is not a easy thing to do when you see your child in pain. My niece was married to a vicoden addict and he is only 25 now and his brain is so messed up he has had 8 car accident in three months because his reactions are so slow and he keeps on hitting cars. You got to worry about the long term damage this is doing to him and getting it early is the key and you are doing the right thing,
I know he is in pain maybe even for real but he put himself in this situation and now has to deal with it. Did you all ever consider to put him on something to help him with his addiction to help him stop the cravings so he can get better ask the counselor about it. There are medicines out there to help,
I am up early and I would rather do that then get up on time as it gives me some time to myself in the morning before I have to take my niece to school.
I did absolutely nothing yesterday as I had a horrible migraine and could not function what else is new getting so tired of beaning sick and tired all the time. Wish I could just be normal a couple days a week
Just checking in after a rough night. Yesterday was a hard day painwise. It really hit in the afternoon and I was suffering last night. Even with the breakthrough meds I was a wreck and was walking slow and gimpy.
I dozed of a couple of hours here and there but still didn't sleep good. My wife's ready to hit me over the head and knock me out for awhile. I'm tired now after getting everyone gone this morning so I'll see if I can nap for awhile.
Turned the heat on for the first time last night, it's frosty and cold this morning. The weather is amplifying my pain and I don't see me getting alot done today.
The kids are out of school tomorrow so I better rest up for that.
I'll check back later, hope your all good today,
Mike
I absolutely would have dicussed my concerns with my child's physicians if I felt there was an issue. I would have tried to talk to my child first and try and guide them in the right direction.....if that failed....YES, talk. You did not "rat" him out....you are trying to protect him. This is tough love my friend....and, you MUST do what YOU feel is right for your child------even if your husband is in denial. I can't imagine what your home tension is like right now but, I absolutely applaud your integrity, your honor and your ability to LOVE your child ---through addiction and denial.
Mike...you have rubbed off on me...I have not slept good in a week! I have been up since 230 am. I lay in bed, get on the computer, go outside and smoke, go back to bed....my days and nights are starting to blend together. UGGHHH.....Spankings for you naughty boy!
Manny & Cherry
You both and I need to get together and hit a tropical island. Pick up Toni along the way and a few others if they want to go. I say we go, lay in the beach chairs and enjoy the surf, the breeze, the food and let our pain take a vacation from our vacation!
ME..>>>>> Today is the little ducks 16th birthday. I feel so bad for her because she has no friends to come over or do anything with and, she realizes she is different. I bought her a crystal necklace that she wanted and my mom bought her a halloween costume that she wanted for her birthday because she had plans to have a big halloween based birthday party for her sweet 16.
Well, due to financial issues and, because of her disabilities.....there is not big party with friends and boys and what not. However, she got what she asked for and today is the day I have to cook a bunch of chinese food for her birthday.
I love her (both of them) with all my heart and soul and I would give up my pain meds & my ability to walk and anything else I could if she could be "normal". My heart breaks for her sometimes, today especially. Anyway...I will just try and give her the most positive birthday I can and, I will cook my butt off despite the pain and misery. Today ....wonton soup stuffed with Morphine laced mushrooms and washed down with vicodin cheese cake and muscle relaxer chicken.
I slept well... ..thanks for your support. I feel deep in my heart that I did what I did out of love. Sometimes when it is all said and done, you just have to go with your gut. For those who asked, Mark is 21. We also have a beautiful daughter, Sara, and she is 24. She has bipolar issues but thinks it is anxiety. I think it is both but I do not count. Recently, she goes on her rants and rages about once a month. Bipolar people are good at snowing their providers and she is really good at it......I have been keeping track of her rages and one of these days, I am going to turn her in too. Neither one of the kids are equipped financially to go out into this world. They are allowed to live here as long as they get along and are respectful of us. They both need counseling and mental health care. We keep trying to emphasize that it is available to them until they are 26. Thankfully, both are employed. Mark does not have a vehicle and currently can't afford one. Bob and I have been providing transportation to and from his work for close to a year. On November 1st, we are going to buy him a bus ticket and tell him that we simply can not afford the gas. Both of my kids have a big sense of entitlement and their world is about to get shaken up quite a bit as Bob's retirement draws nigh. But deep within, they are good kids; difficult but good. Bob thinks that they are just late bloomers living in a tough economy. Neither Bob nor I could put either one of them on the street although he was angry enough with them about a year ago that he did for the night. They were fighting physically and verbally with each other and we both had had it. I say all of the above just to give you a picture of my current life. There is also a lot of good in my life and I really do try to focus on that. Getting it out by sharing with you all really helps. I do not expect anyone to read any or all of it.
I am off to a Bible study and then it is Hair Day. Nobody around here messes with that! Going a shade darker, still on the light brunette side and a trim! I have an appt with the dietician and am also going to a book signing reception for a friend of mine. Then home to laundry and paperwork tonight.. Still haven't done the damn bills and here it is the 20th.Oh well.....
Have a great day. A little fog and chill this morning. It really is autum! Love to you all.
Melinda
I had taken my wedding rings and my mom's wedding band in to be szed. They were size 9's (prednisone days) and Mom's was an eight. They were sized down to a 6 and soddered together to make a lovely wedding set. I was losing them left and right and thought I had lost my engagement ring for sure. Found it in my purse after having looked everywhere possible that it might have been. None of the rings is worth anything in money but it is the sentiment behind each one that mattered to me.
It did me good to get out today. Beautiful sunset. Looking forward now to getting over the bill paying and going to be early. Night all. Thank you again for your support this week. Keep up the prayers. it isn't over, lol
Melinda
It is 256 am here....still not sleeping well. :-(
I hope you are all doing well and, I will check in later today when people have had a chance to check in.
ME>>>>
My little duck's dinner turned out beautiful and, she wanted to help me cook it even though it is her birthday. She and I were in the kitchen laughing and cooking and learning from each other---it was so awesome. The dinner went off without a hitch and every thing was declicious. Her wonton soup was a HIT and her No bake cheese cake was outstanding!
I hurt like hell but, it was worth it--absolutely. She had a good day and she felt special. I left her beautiful messages on her FB page and, sang her happy birthday in three languages when she woke up. I gave her 16 swats on he butt and a pinch to grow an inch and a sock to grow a block!!! Her school had an impromtu luch time dance for her birthday and everyone complimented her all day and wished her happy birthday---I LOVE THAT SCHOOOL! I made her a special breakfast too. It all worked out despite the fact that there were no "friends".
HUGS and love my friendS!
