laurel1818... I hope you're easy on yourself, and forgive yourself. The impulse to lie and cover up is so great. It's always day zero for me because of this. Even the small, stupid stuff. Ironically, or perhaps not so ironic, is that the huge stuff has become really easy to be honest about. It's the small stupid stuff that doesn't matter that seems to trip me up. And then when the small stuff gets exposed, and I get called out on it, and I try to explain that concentrating on the "big" stuff makes me unaware of the "little" stuff (for lack of a better explanation, or one that even makes sense), she can't help but think that if I can't control the little stuff, how can I control the big stuff. To which I reply, I do tell the truth about the big stuff. Well, of course, since all trust is gone, she doesn't believe that.
