Thanks for sharing Larry, 38 days is a long time. I've never counted before, but I'd be very surprised if I'd gone more than two weeks since I was a very young child. You should be proud of your accomplishment and buoyed by the fact that you acknowledged the lie. You came clean without external pressure. That is no small thing for folks with our particular habit. Btw I'm on day six without lies and feeling pretty OK about it. That said I haven't been confronted with anything stressful or embarrassing in the last week, we'll see how I do when it gets tougher to be honest.

Larry, I have never gone 38 days, today barely marks a week for me. Something a friend told me was that even when we slip, all the progress we have made thus far is not lost. If you've made it 38 days before, you can come back from the slip, I'm sure. Hang in there!

One week and one day with no lies. It is a constant battle but one that I feel I can fight with the great support system I have been blessed with. Keep up with the great work. It all starts with a choice, to do what is necessary to overcome.

Thanks Eric and Pabs for the encouragement. It does mean a lot. I'm hanging in there. I didn't realize how lonely I was going to feel today - spending my first Easter without my wife in many, many years. Fortunately some friends invited me to be a part of their Easter lunch so that was good but I still miss the traditions from my past that I now have to learn to live without because of my lying. I think this first year will be tough with a lot of events, holidays and special days that I will not be a part of anymore. I will need to start developing new traditions but it is not going to be easy. Sorry to sulk a bit, just feeling down today. At least it was a lie free day :-)

Larry, part of starting over is building new traditions for your self and accepting your new reality. It must be incredibly difficult, I'm sorry you are struggling. Don't apologize for sulking. You aren't doing anything wrong.

Thanks Eric. I have a better outlook on things today. Remembering that part of the Serenity Prayer says "...accepting hardships as the pathway to peace.." has helped me put things in perspective. You are right Eric that part of starting over is starting new traditions. I guess if it came down to it and I could choose between going back to the lying life I had before with my old comfortable traditions or moving forward lie free and starting new traditions, the choice would be easy. Being lie free trumps all else.

Whew, I almost didn't post. I kept putting it off. Day 9 for me, I have been busy lately, which has helped because then I don't even have time to do things I may lie about. Not sure that's a good long-term solution, but it has been working for me in the short run

Day 9, but a lie I told my parents years ago (2003) came to light today. Ugh... I apologized, I did my best to make things right. It's going to take some time for a lifetime of dishonesty to wash away. In happier news, my wife and I made an offer on a house yesterday and we found out today that it was accepted.

Bring on the stress.

Pabs, Larry, et al, you all encourage me too. One of the biggest problems with being a liar, is that it's isolating. This group is very helpful to me in the short time I'v participated.
