I went for my blood work and ultra sound today. I have 7 follicles measuring from 14-16.5. They also said that my lining is at 10.5. They called later to have me take 300 follistim, 1 hcg low dose, and 1 ganerilex. Then they told me that they wanted me back tomorrow morning just for blood work. I asked if their was something wrong and they said that they wanted to make the follicles larger before giving me the trigger. I feel like it has made me larger and tighter in the past couple of hours. Hoping they will be able to do the retrieval on Thursday.
I unfortunately will not be joining you all as planned. I went to the RE yesterday to have the test where they look inside your uterus to make sure everything looks good (don't know the name). I have scar tissue that needs removed, again (3rd time in 1.5 years), so I'm off to suregery in a week and no IVF for about 3 months. It's very frustrating. IF has been such a roller coaster and I kept telling myself only 2 more months, i can do it...and now this.
I wish you all the best!!! Lots of baby dust!
Laurie- Good Luck! I hope everything times out perfectly for you.
Lisamarie- I will be thinking about you Thursday.
As for me... I went for my ultrasound and blood work today. They had me do an early 250 follistim (3:00 pm) to help with my estrogen level that they say is lower this time than the last. They are having my trigger tonight at 8:45 with my 2 triggers shots of Ovidrel. I need to go back in the morning to check my level again. My retrieval is set for Thursday at 8:45 am. My 7 follicles measured between 17-22.5 today. It jumped a lot since yesterday.
Baby dust!
Just took my first Gonal shot for this cycle :-)
I go to the RE on Thursday for my first ultrasound.
JA - You can store the pills anywhere, they don't need to be keep cool. I keep my Ovidrel and Gonal in the crisper in my fridge, lol.
Countingdown - The half surge thing is crazy! I've never heard of that. I'll be monitored while on the meds....want to know the bet time to BD.....of course I've told my BF that our best shot is to BD as much as possible! How did the ultrasound go today?
Lisa - Great news about the retrieval! Best wishes for an easy ER!
TJ - So sorry for the bump in the road! I've always hated waiting. When is the surgery scheduled for?
GCin - Read your journal....prayers that everything works out and you can move forward with this cycle. Hugs!
Kelly - How did the appointment go today? Did you really get hives??? lol
Road - Thank you for the good luck wishes! How are you doing?
xoxo
Yes I did have hives! I have been so worried about the injections and meeting the assisting OB! I am sure that I will be just as nervous when we inject actual medicine instead of the saline! We were told that with my ovarian reserve being low we would be lucky to get 3 eggs this round and hopefully all of those turn into embryos. That was really the only "downer" part of the whole day....oh and we did this all on our wedding anniversary! I am pretty proud of myself for "letting" DH stab me! LOL!
Laurie - yaya for starting stims! Good luck for this cycle - it would be so awesome if it could happen the natural way. :) The best time to BD is the day of the surge (or trigger) and the following two days. Of course, I agree - BD as much as possible. :) :)
As for me, I did have bloods and ultrasound today. I still have 2 follicles growing steadily - yay! One was measuring 15.5mm and the other 19.5mm. No natural surge today in blood, which is good because they would still like that 15.5mm one to get a bit bigger. They said that it's been growing pretty steadily though, so they expect it to be at 17mm tomorrow. I did raise the trigger question because this is my 6th try so I want the best odds possible and no more guessing games re timing. I'm back for more blood work in the morning and if I haven't surged naturally then, they will trigger me tomorrow (becauset he 17mm one should be good to go then plus it keeps growing a bit even after trigger), and the IUI would be Friday. Of course, if I happen to surge on my own tomorrow morning, the IUI would be Thursday, so guess I'll just have to wait until tomorrow to see what my bloods tell us.
The clinic just started a new policy that they are doing IUIs in the afternoon now. That's not going to cut it with these half surges. Because of the ambiguity in timing and the short lifespan of frozen-thawed sperm, this absolutely needs to be done first thing Friday morning.
Ovulation is 24-48 hrs after the start of the surge or 12-24 hrs after the peak, and both the egg and frozen-thawed sperm both last only between 12-24 hrs, so this has to be timed as precisely as possible. Tomorrow afternoon might be a bit too early and 24 hrs later too late. I am going to insist that it be done in the morning on Friday and make a fuss if they insist on the afternoon because of their new policy - I get the new policy applies to most but it has to be applied on a case by case basis and will half surges, it really doesn't work.
Kelly- I'm glad you appt went well and once you get your own routine down the shots aren't so bad. It's the first one that is the scariest and the rest are a breeze.
Countingdown- yay for iui tomorrow! Good luck! Here's to this being your last cycle!
As for me, I started my final pack of bcp and also z-pak on Monday. I'm already getting anxious to start Lupron 7/15. I should be used to waiting by now but I'm just not very patient.. ;)
Laurie - thanks for the support. Good luck tomorrow, looks like we'll be having ultrasounds at the same time.
Kellyc - The injections are really not that bad, its the first that's the worst, and I think its the stress of doing it right and the anxiety. I always do mine myself as my DH scared me with the needle.
Also, I have low ovarian reserve. I had three good eggs, one too small on my last cycle and it worked!!! Do stay hopeful. It's quality that counts.
Countingdown - good luck on your IUI! I bet you are so ready to wrap things up. Those sound like two healthy size eggs.
