Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
Thank you Sandi for your comment and your caring. Being heard by someone does make me feel a bit better. Yes I know I should be dragging myself out of the house to do something, in order to brighten myself up... and I know it should make me feel better to go to a movie, or do some other activity that's pleasant and will fill in some of the endless empty hours, but most of the time I find it almost impossible, when I'm down like I am now, to not feel even more miserable because of not having anyone to do something with. I know lots of people go to see a movie on their own... but it's sort of different when you don't have any choice but to go alone.
I do try hard to stay upbeat and positive, and to reach out to people here in order to alleviate what feels like overwhelming loneliness... but still there are times when that is just not enough... when having virtual friends feels too much like having pretend friends... or when it feels like no-one is really listening or noticing.
When I am feeling down, there are only so many times I can send out hugs that don't get a response, before I feel like there is no point in sending them... but if I give in to that negative thinking I lose any feeling of connection with the outside world... and that is definitely not a good state for me to be in. Ho hum.
Sending hugs for all... take care guys... Gaye... xxx
But.... I will get myself up and go for a short walk. I'll do my exercises like a good girl and my sister will be by to visit this afternoon - it was her b'day yesterday but I couldn't go see her. That's all I'm planning and no one better ask me to do anything more. I'm not cooking today, I'm not cleaning, I'm not shopping or offering Taxi service.... its my day off (I hope)
It feels like something is trying to rip my body apart. The last resort is the ER, but that's never a good experience. They'll give me a shot of Toradol and send me home with instructions to call my doc!
What to do...
Cherry
Gaye, you sent me such wonderful hugs the other day and I never sent any back. Excuses are uselss, I'm sorry. You are such a sweetheart and you deserve better. I know what you mean about going alone, but a movie is a good idea, so too is something like a swim, where there is something gratuitus involved, and whereby you are outside of yourself.
Lisa, hang in there, walk is a great idea. That junk will be there later. One piece at a time. Let the fresh air flow through your lungs.
Hang in there Cherry. Sending you healing prayers. Toradol doesn't do anything. I'll send you my big bottle.
Gentle hugs to you all
Gaye, there are times that we can't see the apple on our own heads. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being genuine, kind, and caring, guess what, you're a..........10+. I've seen your picture in your photo album and you look as nice as you appear to be.
Lisa & Cherry, You both also mean so much to me. You are both open to tell how you feel and that's critical.
All of ya'll that keep coming here please know that I have great admiration for how you handle life on life's terms.
Living life in Chronic Pain is the pits. We are all friends, all be it virtual, I care for you as much on here because that's the way it is.
I am feeling better recovering from my surgery. Right now I'm scheduled to go back to work on Monday. We'll see how I feel.
When I say something here I mean it. I am available if you want to message me and I'll return your message ASAP. I may not have the answers, but I have ears.
Ya'll mean the world to me. Please!!!!!!!...Keep Posting.
David.
I wish I had more time to respond. I feel cheated that I don't have time enough to get more involved and get to know more of you.
sadsadlisa....oh so many wonderful people here. I will try to be more involved. Right now am trying to find work at home with flex hours and a way to get my scooter and more pain relief and take care of disabled dependents although they are grown, they are needy. And try to squeeze a little time out for my husband. Sometimes we get so busy with these things we have no time for each other. I spread myself too thin. But I will come back to this post and get involved...this is the best post I've ever seen here. I want to read each one.
Love to all,
Anne
David I'm so glad your scs is working for you! What percentage?
ELF1 I LOVED your cat pic!!!
Rayfoof, Autumn...like other AND ME can't just get msgs because profile is private. I TRIED to UNprivate it but don't know how. If anyone wants to lead me and others to UNprivate please rsvp. Thanks.
Marie, I'm sorry your husband isn't supporting you in your CP. I so wish your future to be more peaceful. That may mean splitting. I had to do it once. I was happier alone! and years later met Mr. Right. Thought it would NEVER happen! And still life is hard sometimes. Nothing is perfect. No one here, the DS site, CP site, Nothing/no one but like lladyfair says...we're like misfit toys and we can stand together to STAND....good way of putting it.
And to those like Schlene, I so get it. I do reach out to people but also am shy. And when you read alot of people seemingly knowing each other you may not feel a part of things. I also have felt that way. But no need! Msg people and get to know them.
I wish I had more time. I have something to look forward to now...the other thousands of posts here. Sure wish I had read this....I thought it was a plain roll call and missed out on meeting such wonderful new people. I did try to msg a few but 'frend request' was required. i felt put off. I'm sure people have been put off sending me messages for that reason too. Maybe we can unprivate them, we can just not put identifying info on our profile....and save personal info for people we get to know....Anyway that's what I intend to do.
Have to now get to work on finding work but am excited to get back to read more here. Thanks David. Gee there are literally thousands of people out there that don't even post! Little blessings just waiting for us to meet. Old and young. Men and women. (speaking of old...I AM OLD rayfoof...yea David we are all a bit rickety! :) I'm glad you started this David. It really brought alot of people out in the open. People who don't know quite how to jump in there but need support and contact with others who share the same issues. Again David....good going.\
Anne
p.s. I'm still struggling with my little 5x5 oxycodone and PT. Getting a scooter soon. ACCIDENTLY took an old oxycotin from surgery times the other day. AND WOW I SURE FELT PAIN GO AWAY!!! MUST TELL MY DOCTOR!!!!
My daughter said a nutritionist told her white veggies bring down high bp. Like onions and calliflower (sp?) Just to pass it on....
To take your profile off of private do the following:
Below your profile avatar click on "My Account"
Where it says "Who can see my profile" click on "DS members" - Only allow DS members to see my profile. This setting will also restrict search engine spiders from including your profile in their search results.
I'm glad you like this thread I, along with many others come here on a regular basis. My SCS is working good, but it's hard to tell right now because I'm sill taking post-op medication. TTYL.
David.

Hugs,

Can't do much of anything else but go on the computer, too much pain this morning. Its easing a bit since I took my meds but I woke up at 7 with that 'shoot me please' kinda pain. Last night was worse - couldn't concentrate on the movie we were trying to watch and then couldn't go to sleep. I have to pick up my grandson by 10:30 so I hope I feel a bit better before then. Only have him for an hour or two and SO will help but he's a busy 21 month old - too much for me to handle most days but I love him to death. Daughter is writing her GED today so I couldn't turn her down. Hope everyone is having a decent day and enjoying the nice weather (at least its warm here)
