Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
Well I am here... and feeling pretty good myself (definitely better than average at any rate)... so I'm just looking to share some caring and support amongst the cpers... or to anyone that is in need.
I have always loved positive quotes, so I have a collection that I like to share regularly with my DS friends (I always knew they'd come in handy one day... lol). There are some that I think really sum up the wonderful essence of DS... and help explain why it works so well at bringing people together for mutual support.
"Man never made any material as resilient as the human spirit."
~ Bern Williams
"We are each of us angels with only one wing, so we can only fly by embracing one another." ~ Luciano de Crescenzo
Believe, when you are most unhappy, that there is something for you to do in the world. So long as you can sweeten another's pain, life is not in vain. ~ Helen Keller.
The best way to cheer yourself up is to cheer up somebody else.
~ Mark Twain
The kindest way of helping yourself is to find a friend. ~ Ann Kaiser Stearns
"People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within."
~ Elizabeth Kbler-Ross
We are rewarded here at DS for our resilience when life is hard, for embracing each other with friendship, for attempting to sweeten each others pain, for cheering each other up and for continuing to shine from within even in times of personal darkness.
DS allows us to reach out a hand in friendship despite the barriers of distance and isolation... and in so doing we can touch a heart in desperate need of caring. When we make the effort to do that our own lives are enriched many times over and we can feel so much better.
Hope everyones doing well and not in too much pain
This weeks been shite for me, hardly slept and in lots of pain, my dad saw me this morning and said I look like death warmed up (arent parents always charming haha).
BUT
I have applied to do the London marathon in April and I am doing it for Chronic Pain Research. Im yet to confirm the charity but I think it will be 'Action on Pain'. Itll probs take me a day to walk it but I WILL do it.
I have also decided to try and go to a festival for the day. I havent been to one for about 3 years since the pain has been bad. Obviously not going to camp, but Im guna try and watch a few bands cause I used to love going to stuff like that.
Im not letting it beat me. This week I have been a mess...but Im trying to do stuff thatll help me feel better. You guys should all book/make/see/visit something you enjoy to give you a boost too =)
xx
I always really liked it because I would go and leave a hug for anyone who said their pain was extra bad or that they were struggling with something in their life or generally not coping well.
Back then you couldn't make your profile private on DS, and that is something that I still find a bit difficult... as I often want to hug someone who has posted on the board and sounds like they could really use an extra hug, only to find their profile is private so hugging is not possible.
Yes I know you can leave a comment on the board, but that's just not the same thing as leaving a hug... well not in my opinion anyway. It's way past bedtime on my side of the world now... so I better log off and get some shuteye. Hope everyone has a good day... and that there are lots of posts on this thread when I log back on in the morning.
Thanks for starting this David. Sending gentle comforting hugs to all who are in need of them. Take care... xxx
Going to sit on campus under the trees and write this dang paper. :)
Sunshine makes life so much easier to deal with.

I would like to see folks use this thread to kind of keep us informed on how you're doing, like GTK said. Each day if you want to.
Corri, don't think you're alone, those corners jump out at a lot of us at times. I hope you're OK.
To the newer folks, Hopeinyaheart and tamedabeast, we're so glad you're here. Keep coming back. This is your site too. Welcome!!
We support each other. Send us a word about how you're doing.
Sincerely,
David.
