Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
Have you ever woken up (grammar?) on the couch at night after having your neck or body turned the wrong way.
We got home last night and I told my wife I just wanted to finish watching this show and I'd be right to bed. Well of course I fell asleep, in the bad position, and she came and woke me up. I just about screamed like an elementary school boy, with a dagger in the side of his neck.
Anyway, it still is kind of messed up, but the news about seeing the surgeon next week is helping me cope. If it wasn't for the friends I have here, my wife, and many other things, life would be a lot more of a struggle.
OK. ??????????Question?????????????
What helps you get through your day of chronic pain. You guys out there just looking.....let's see it.
David.
Hugs
Kallie
Some of the things are chores, but I also put pleasurable things on the list (like go for a walk in the Botanical Gardens or spend a few hours working on family history or on my hobbies etc). It helps give me some structure to my days also. As I live alone and don't have many regular commitments some structure is really useful... much as I love DS it's not good for me to get so absorbed that I suddenly realise a whole day is gone and I've done nothing else.
Glad it looks like the permanent scs will be going ahead David. I hope it will happen quite soon, that you will recover from the surgery quickly and that it will give you good relief. I know you have said your pain comes from your neck, but is it neuropathic pain rather than mechanical?
Have you done some research of your own into the scs, so that you know all the ins and outs of it and any possible problems? I only ask because it seems some people get a lot of their info from the company rep... and obviously it's their job to sell you the product. Wishing you all the best with it... and hoping it turns your life around.
Wishing everyone a good, minimal pain day... and sending loads of gentle comforting hugs to anyone who needs them.
Take care all... Gaye... xxx
I think I got it figured out. It should be around 11:00 PM in your neck of the woods, not sure. Yes, I have done a lot of research. I've read the success stories and the horror stories. I must tell you that the 7 day trial that I did a couple of weeks ago was a huge success. I know with the permanent it could be different, but I'm ready.
So nice to hear from all ya'll again this morning, and again .....

Hugs to all,

A few little naps helps me get through a day in pain.
I think naps are the ticket also.
I know you may be going through a hard time right now, but we're here for you.
David.

To all my friends on here (you know who you are) a great big soft hug and high five.
We have had a wonderful week and I can't stop smiling.
Nothing to do with pain exactly, though it will certainly help me when I have to do things around here if DH is away at any time.
Just a bit of background info - for those who don't know we
generate ALL our own power and need to run gas
generators from time to time to keep the house working.
Yesterday we bought a big new electric start one (we had
to take back one DH had bought 2 months ago and we
got a full credit on it) so now I can start the generator -
I now have trouble with the rope-pull ones - and so I can
manage when he is not around.
I am so happy and can't wait to get out there and use it today when I need it for the vacuum cleaner............ Might even start liking cleaning day again!
So big hugs to you MY friends.
I'm glad that you all are here and keep coming back.
David.
