You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.
Ack..... It's not just the kinky hairs i want to pull, it's the really short ones, the really fine ones.
I will not pull tonight, I will stay strong and keep my hands down. And have a cup of tea cos tea is nice.
xx
Every hair matters because trich is a liar. There is NEVER just a few hairs Once you start it is too hard to stop. Even you, strong as you are, would want to keep pulling more once you started.
You're right, the urges have been getting stronger because it's tough for anyone to battle it if they are just sitting around. Get out, move your body. Work those negative thoughts out of there. You are in control.
Okay, enough drill sargeant, K. I've been trying to like tea more since the rest of the world loves it. I guess it's the American in me that thinks it just tastes like hot water. xoxoxoxo
I agree, at this point, every single little shiny, flat, thick, thin, sparse, twinkly, twisted braid of hair is important! Keep moving, and you can make it through this rough moment.
Hurray!
Tea IS nice. :)
And thank you very much drill Sergeant K. I REALLY needed to read that. SO important.
I'm so happy I have you all, you mean so much to me, and I wouldn't be able to do this without you.
Hehe yes tea is nice, just keep drinking it until you like it kaux.
192 days pull free, and feeling very positive now. I'm still in bed, cos I'm still a little bit sick, but I'm wearing a beanie. And I'm thinking of going out tonight for a bit, just to get out! Hmmm. It's a surprise birthday party so I've planned to go to it for ages. I'll have to rug up if I do go.
Anyway, big hugs :)
Keep your hands down, and congratulations, 192 days is wonderful! Hurray, stay strong, you can do this!
Glad you are feeling better, and fending off the trich monster. I understand those thoughts. It is never okay. Every hair counts. As you get farther into the PF, trich gets more devious, like that little devil sitting on your shoulder, complacency is his companion.
HUGS
Earl Grey is my favourite tea also. Though my friend is a tea nut, and whenever I go to her place she always has a million teas (loose leaf of course!) There is one I tried called Monk's Pear.... yum!
I have to agree, trich gets more devious the farther I go, or rather I do. I create more intricate rationalisations. So while it gets easier and easier as you go on your pf, it also gets harder and harder, well at this point at least.
But I'm so proud of myself, I have come so far, and at the beginning I scarcely believed that I could make it until I went away until Europe. But now I'm so close, for the first time in my life a goal related to trich might actually be achieved, and I will fight for it dammit! But I know I will achieve this only if I take it day by day. Big hugs.
And I'm so proud of you, too! You're an inspiration to me, growing inches and inches of pretty, thick hair in areas that were once bald. Fight for Europe! You can absolutely do it. There is no doubt in my mind.
Thanks Clare, it's true that having a busy, fulfilled life really helps the fight against trich. And that's something we have a lot of control over :)
