Beating Trich Community Group
You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.

Hi, My name is Sam and I'm new to this group. I am 23 and have had trich since I was 12. Over the years I have tried many times to stop, however it's only this past year that I have started to research ways of stopping, and have been really determined to do it. I plan on doing so with a combination of understanding, will-power, exercise, trying the John Kender diet, and seeing a therapist. I love designing, illustrating, cooking, extreme sports, exercising, seeing live music and reading. I would love to provide others with encouragement, and maybe get some support when I fall.

I don't really know how to label this but I having a rough week and I can't say it's one thing.... I have a lot on my plate which is nothing new and I try to cope in many positive ways and do but I still have my moments. My kids more so my daughters talk to me about everything which I know it's cause of comfort and we are close.... however I really struggle with the venting about their dad which...

My stylist has always explained how to style it the same, but it always takes me more time and effort to replicate it. Duh, because I'm not a hairstylist by profession, so I lack the skills and experience. :)
I had a trendy short haircut 2 years ago, but it brought out a lot of perfectionist tendencies in me, and I totally over utilized the styling tools (my flat iron), so it damaged my hair pretty badly. Once my hair grows out, I definitely want something that is low maintenance, something that looks good, even if some parts of my hair are wavy and others aren't.
If I need to spend a lot of time fussing with my hair, I think that will bring out the trich in me.
Still, it's so exciting to get a new hair cut. Keep up the fabulous work!
Will be demanding lots from my stylist. If she/does a crap job I will go nuts, and I'll inform them of this before they start. Haha. First one in over 10 years it better look damn good!
Umm 203 days pf. It's pretty easy at the moment, ahhh nice. Enjoying it while it lasts.
I don't have time to read this entire thread (man you've got lots of support here!) but I read the beginning and then the last 10 pages -- it was so exciting watching your count UP to 200 days PF!!!!
That is so fabulous -- my hero! Hope to be there one day, planning my new hairstyle!
Hmm ok, so I've been giving a haircut so much thought. And after playing online one of those sites where you can see how celebrity hairstyles will look on you, I have realised that if I go short, I'll have to go really short, like pixie cut short. Because any longer won't really suit my face. And cos my hair is curly, I don't think a pixie cut will be easy to maintain. Plus.... I love my ringlets and I really want to see them in action again. Plus I want to braid my hair again. And I'll be able to do none of this if I get a pixie cut. Hm. So.. I'm thinking I'm going to have to wait for all my layers to grow out. I might put pics of all the different styles up in my pics so you guys can have a look if you want and let me know your thoughts!
I like number 4 and 6 the best, when the hair isn’t straight. Cause from what I understood you don’t have straight hair.
Btw you’re really beautiful!!! You look like a diva in all these pictures :p
203 WOW!!!!
Below chin length I think it will have to be.
Haha Lien, thanks.. I reckon I look rather dopey in this photo. But it was taken on the day of my friend's wedding when I was a bridesmaid so I have lots of makeup on. I need to carry that makeup artist girl around in my pocket hehe.
Phoebe I like the Rihanna cut too, and guess what, on this online program that very cut was an option. I tried it on, and jeez it did not suit me one little bit.
204 days pull free. I should really achieve something today....
For the record, though, the first time I went for a pixie cut (this was before I'd ever pulled from my scalp), I was extremely on the fence about whether it would look good on me. I was afraid I wasn't skinny enough, or my nose or ears were too big. But I tried it, and I loved it, and everyone loved it, and it was grand. Only problem was that a lot of the hairs stuck up, which made me want to pull them, but with curly hair, those might stand out less and not be so much of a problem.
By the way, you're absolutely gorgeous, and I'm TOTALLY jealous of your eyebrows. I know you'll look beautiful no matter what hairstyle you choose. :)
I think if I had a lot of money I'd get the pixie, cos then when I wanted to grow it out I'd get extensions until it was past chin length again. Cos I agree, growing out a pixie must be a pain, particularly with curly fluffy hair! (Been called a poodle before).
What ever you choose, it will look beautiful on you!
You can do this! Over 200 days!
You are going to get a haircut Sam, can you belive it. It feels like you joined this group yesterday ! Time really flies.
I like them all!! The cuts, I have a thing for short hair on chicks, so nr 1 is my first choice, then nr 5 and 6.
i have butterflies in my stomach, i'm so excited for you!!!
