You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.

Hi, My name is Sam and I'm new to this group. I am 23 and have had trich since I was 12. Over the years I have tried many times to stop, however it's only this past year that I have started to research ways of stopping, and have been really determined to do it. I plan on doing so with a combination of understanding, will-power, exercise, trying the John Kender diet, and seeing a therapist. I love designing, illustrating, cooking, extreme sports, exercising, seeing live music and reading. I would love to provide others with encouragement, and maybe get some support when I fall.

I hate the short hairs, too, not just pulling-wise, but aesthetically-- it's why I've resolved to keep shaving my head until it all grows back, which is a very long process.

Sorry you were having a rough day. I have all faith in you though that you can make it through.

Yes, I'm all scraggly short hairs lately, and coarse too (argh!). But we've got to make it past this phase to get a full head if hair.

I was so busy focusing on 6 months for you that I didn't even considered you're approaching 200 days! Another big milestone!

Thanks ihatetrich, yep they're in my old pull spots. And current hotspots (which are HUGE!) Best not to think about it.

Hehe fingers down. Now's really the time to take up knitting... I'll ask my mum if she has any supplies around.

I think you're great for doing that Emmy. I'm far too vain! But the fact that you'll never get permanent damage if you keep repeating that process if needed, is fantastic.

Thanks so much Kauxfire.. Reading that really helps.. I have a few coarse hairs that are REALLY bugging me too. But they'll smooth out over time :) And yes, really excited about 200 days! It's CRAZY!

How awesome!! I am 1/10th of the way there!!! And I agree with firante... Celebrate!!! 200 days is a massively huge accomplishment!!

Hehehehe thanks Granit!!!! :) And thanks Firante!! :) Ah... I was SO close to pulling a hair (really gotta get better and off this couch!) but now hands are down so firmly. Umm what to do, what to do. Not sure. Hmm. Maybe pancakes with chocolate sauce, cream, bananas and strawberries? And champagne. Sounds nice. Some kind of special food!
