Beating Trich Community Group
You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.

Hi, My name is Sam and I'm new to this group. I am 23 and have had trich since I was 12. Over the years I have tried many times to stop, however it's only this past year that I have started to research ways of stopping, and have been really determined to do it. I plan on doing so with a combination of understanding, will-power, exercise, trying the John Kender diet, and seeing a therapist. I love designing, illustrating, cooking, extreme sports, exercising, seeing live music and reading. I would love to provide others with encouragement, and maybe get some support when I fall.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

It's the first day of autumn today. Cold, windy and miserable. My seasonal affective disorder just set in!!!!! Seriously. Why does the change in weather make me sad??? I guess it relates to childhood when the end of summer signals the return to school (hardly ever a happy place for me!!). And summer equals all things happy for me. Must make new associations.
SIGH. Exercise and a hot shower will fix me up!!!

I know what you mean about making school memories be happier ones, it does take time and patience to find the bright spot.
Exercise is good for the mind, body, and heart!
Ah, hot shower sounds wonderful!
Hurrah on 83 days!
OOO I've heard of the effects of absinthe. I do not dare try it. Hmmm maybe i should. LOL ok no. I will DIE. I'm too old to be acting like a silly teenager now.
Dont be sad over the weather change!! It's going to be light and breezy now!! Now you don't have to complain about how hot it is!! Remember you were sweltering! lol

Thanks 4everfree! To me I can't believe it's been this long, it doesn't feel like I started that long ago. I had no expectations when I started, really didn't set a goal or anything. I think the best way to do it is to take it day by day. I wake up every morning thinking 'today's going to be a pull free day'. And when it gets hard, I just think to myself that I can make it through the next minute, and the urge will be over.

Fanks Granit!!!!!!! :)
I use the one day at a time thing with many things too. It's a great philosophy. So is enjoying every minute of your day, no matter what you are doing, and concentrating on your current activity rather than future 'better' activities.
Hehe glad to be an inspiration 4everfree. You learn to manage being pull free even with strong urges. I had terrible urges all day yesterday. It was SOSOSOSOSOSO hard to say no. But I"m glad I got through it, cos now, with no urges today, I feel very happy.
