Beating Trich Community Group
You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.

Hi, My name is Sam and I'm new to this group. I am 23 and have had trich since I was 12. Over the years I have tried many times to stop, however it's only this past year that I have started to research ways of stopping, and have been really determined to do it. I plan on doing so with a combination of understanding, will-power, exercise, trying the John Kender diet, and seeing a therapist. I love designing, illustrating, cooking, extreme sports, exercising, seeing live music and reading. I would love to provide others with encouragement, and maybe get some support when I fall.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

And thanks Phoebe, your presence is very strong, comforting, calming and optimistic.

and i'd say one or two hairs puled here and there don't ruin your pull-free-a-thon! you've made a ton of progress and a TINY (really- one or two hairs is nothing) little slip up shouldn't affect that, but you should go with your gut feeling! congrats on making it so far!!!
Hugs.
89 days pull free....... So excited!!!...... One day til 90! I must do something to celebrate!!!!!
but WOW 89 days! go do something crazy- you deserve it!
its crazy to me that the urges haven't gone away or at least decreased a little bit! it makes your accomplishment even bigger!
Honestly, I never really tracked my urges before I started this pull-free-a-thon.. so It's really hard to say whether the urges have decreased, increased, or whatever. Before last year, I ignored trich. I mean, I pulled, but I didn't want to know anything about it. I stopped when I could, or rather, slowed down when I could. But I was avoiding seeking help, I didn't want to know about it, I just wanted to ignore it. I don't understand how I could have had that mindset - it feels like that was a thousand years ago....
But I know a lot more about how to control my urges now.. I have been slowly developing my awareness, and this allows me to know when I am most likely to want to pull. I know that things like deep breathing, exercise, changing my environment, washing my hair etc will cap the urge, or make it disappear. I have come to realise that trich is GOOD! It tells me when something is wrong.. And if I didn't have trich, I don't think I'd be on this path to inner happiness and peace with myself. I don't wish that I didn't have trich any more.
Ok sorry for that essay!
I loved it and wanted to be left alone with it. On the other hand I hated it and myself for doing it.
Hugs.
Bit of a mind F&%$#!!
Yes it was weird Granit.. I didn't let trich take over my life, it was just this little part of me that I hated, which only affected me at certain and limited times. Now, it's a huge part of my life, but I'm so happy about that. WEIRD!!!!
Hurrah! Two days without showering due to working! You will feel really refreshed!
