You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.
Breathe..... calm....... gone......
HUGS!! deep breaths sweetie!!
Thank you.... Definitely deep breaths. I'm wondering if I should seriously change careers... because my current one involves sitting at a desk for long periods of time in front a computer working to tight and stressful deadlines, coming up with ideas and dealing with annoying clients. I absolutely love being a graphic designer..... but really seems like the worst career I could have for trich!!! Hugs.
You are so talented!! Don't change career, we have to find another solution for you....hmmm...Would it be better if you had workmates??? I know I don't pull with people around. don't you know anyone who can be your fellow worker?
Watch out for the tugging, that was what I did when I relapsed...
Hug!
You are doing great! Don't change jobs, unless you get to be something super cool-like a roadie! LOL
Kirstin, I am very clever at pulling out my hair with others around. No one ever notices. I have done freelance design work in design studios before, and I pulled SO SO much each time. In fact, the last time I was working for two weeks in a design studio, I created my first every bald patch behind my ear. It was rather large. So.. unfortunately I can't use people as a barrier.
Thanks Luna and Kirstin for the advice not to change careers. I know that that's definitely the wise choice... I don't want to let trich win in my life. I've only let it take over a select few areas of my life (while swimming, not being able to wear my hair out when going out, getting my hair ready in the morning). I'm certainly don't think trich has ruined my life by any stretch. But on the same hand, I'd love a job that allowed me to be outdoors in a beautiful setting every day... Isn't life too short to be stuck in an office all day? Or something? Haha.
Ok so 78 days pull free, I think. Day 79!!! Ohmygosh.
xoxoxox
MOOOOOHAHAHAHA........
HUGS.
FIGHT ON!! WE WON'T LET TRICH CONTROL US!!
hugs
Looking at the thin or bald spots is a real motivator for me to stop.
I know what you mean about designing at the computer. Keep your free hand busy with a bumpy drier ball. or sit on it, if you have to. Try to break that link between the concentration time & the pulling.
At 78 days, it looks like you are being pretty successful!!! xoxo
Yes, glad you helped Granit. I didn't tug at all yesterday. Well maybe the tiniest bit last night but I stopped right away each time I tried.
Yep fighting on Alex!!! People don't see what they don't expect to see, I think that's why it's so easy for us. It's different around family, they know straight away what's going on!
Hugs!!! 79 days now!!! ARGH!!!!!! Exciting.
Going out to a retro club tonight, I'm going to enforce my drink rule!!! Hehe I can do it! Also I'm visiting my best friend in another state this weekend, and we're going on a wine tour. I will be controllllled.
