  Piedmont Airlines hired me to be a ramp agent. It's going to start at part time which is good enough for me. The pay isn't too shabby either. The first two weeks will be challenging while I get acclimated to heavy lifting again but all should be good. I'm hoping to get a bid for maybe 18-20 hours per week. That will be a good start. Then I want to do some flying!! :-)

  I've arrived a half hour early for my job interview at Piedmont Airlines for a ramp agent position. The ramp agent position won't be easy because it's a physical job but I figured I'll adapt, improvise, and overcome.   Renewed interest in an old hobby

  The upshot of beginning to feel better is that I have a renewed interest in an old hobby. I have been a licensed ham radio operator since 2011 and I am thinking about getting an HF rig and getting back on the air once employed again. Radio, communications, networks, and computers have all been interests of mine.   Found some good job leads

  Today I found some good job leads and one of them is actually a hiring event so I could be re-employed as early as Tuesday, August 28th. The one with the hiring event is an airport shuttle bus driver. I have a Class A CDL with Passenger endorsement so I could easily do this job and it doesn't pay too poorly either at 15.45 per hour. It is also a teamster union job. After I get fully into the union, the money will go up significantly. I think I really want to work around planes though and I...

  I was sent home today because I was not improving my backing skills. I guess I feel disappointed but I managed to apply to some jobs ranging from being a security guard to working on the ramp at an airport. I choose not to mope around despite the bad news.   I took the opportunity to all some questions on a trucker's website called The Trucker's Report and I got the skinny on hauling paper. Turns out it's not so bad after all. Shippers and receivers have you in and out fairly quickly despite almost everything being live load and unload. This means I'll be able to make miles without worrying about being detained and running down my hours of service.   As the title reads, I'm starting over at 41. I'm Autistic and was on disability for the last three years. I'm finally ready to come off of it and get going but I'm scared of going back to work. I've had three careers since college: security guard, information technology, and truck driving. I was unable to go back into Information Technology and security work is paying the same amount of money that I earned in 2004.   Tomorrow I'm headed to orientation for Schneider National in Carlisle, PA. I don't know why I feel so down, so sad. I feel all used up like a broken down car. When I look at my past, all I see is failure. I wonder what's going to be different this time. I wish I was excited but instead I feel like my life has sunk.I'm not looking forward to the struggle of having to adapt to a new job and new circumstances.
