Becoming lie-free is mercifully becoming a habit. It is not easy to escape a life-time rut of lying, but it is very do-able with a great deal of work. Slowing down, thinking about an appropriate response, taking a deep breath, then speaking.

Welcome Joe and Jonathan and congrats Jonathan on 7, hopefully now 8 days of 'sobriety.' Joe, one day at at a time.

Thanks BTR. Day 5 lie free. I came into town today so I'm checking in and headed back out to the cabin. Doing some serious soul searching the last few days. Plan to complete step 5 tomorrow with a friend. I fear his repulsion after I disclose the depth of my depravity with him but it has to be done. I shared everything with my wife and she is repulsed and has rejected me but I can't say I blame her since it affects her so deeply.

All we can do is to make amends - we can't control how others respond Iswan. We do this for ourselves not for others as it is the path to a freedom we can never otherwise know.

A good lie free Saturday and hopefully the same today - had a great run this am with friends - what a tremendous way to start a day

Hello All. It's been close to two months since I've checked in. During that time it's been a mixed bag of truth and lies. Many of them to myself. I'll admit that I haven't kept up with all your posts, but will go back and read them later. Just had a fight with my wife because of my arrogance, self-absorption, and laziness. It is the first time in a long time that we are going to bed without making things right. For the moment, I'm getting back into the group because I'm better when I'm with you all. Grateful to be here.

we missed you BNG at times it felt like an echo chamber in here.

If the Definition of Insanity doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results; then I have spent literally years of my life insane... I have moments contemplating it but I am fighting hard and enjoying sanity....Lie free hump day to all!

Weird day yesterday - out of my comfort zone most of the day and found myself drifting back to old habits - not lying, but had to really control what came out of my mouth - slow things down and think.

Things are going better again, but that's the story of my life. I make an improvement (or two) for a while, then because I feel overconfident (or just plain don't think) I backslide. Typically at that point something blows up in my face, I get anxious, and the old habits kick in. For me the key is to be constantly on guard against sloppy thought and behavior. When I can do it, things go very well. The problem is to be consistent. And I'm not very good at that. So, I need to slow down, think, then respond with the truth. I hope everyone has an honest night and a great tomorrow.
