it has been a while since my last check in, but i feel good today. no lies, a bit of a bad day but i survived it and im ready to face another.

I got home as the blizzard hitting the east coast was beginning - a bit of a white knuckle drive from the airport home, but made it - whew. Yesterday was a typical situation where I would have embellished things, but I didn't - it was harder than I imagined, but made it.

many thanks to larry and pabilta for participating in an online LA meeting last evening. for those struggling with lying there is nothing like the ability to connect and share with others our troubles. we are there to be supportive and to find support. last night was a start.

howdy y'all and happy valentine's day to each of you....i would like to apologize for not getting in on the conference call last evening, it sounds like it went well. thanks to 'btr' for setting up and running the call. many thanks to you for doing that, perhaps i'll be able to make the next one.
it's been a difficult past few weeks and hopefully i'll be coming to the end of this stretch of time and things will smooth out for me and for everyone who might be having trouble..i'm still lie free, barely, but still.

I'm Laura O. and I'm a compulsive liar. I haven't checked in in a looong time, but last night's meeting was inspiring, to say the least, for me to pull out all my tools that have grown dusty on the shelf. Lord knows I've needed them, even if I thought I didn't. The Serenity Prayer came in handy for me tonight, as it always has. I love breaking each line down in times of mental challenge for me. God granted me the serenity to accept that I cannot change my husband, and that I can only have courage to change my attitude about how is he is about certain things, and the wisdom to know the difference between the two. It's been a little bit of a rough evening, but the day was great overall.

For those that check in on a regular basis, we would looove to meet you at our next online meeting next Thursday as Borntorun mentioned before me. Once we get this meeting time established, please let us know if that time on Thursday doesn't work for y'all and perhaps we can get a second meeting started that more people can join.

Saturday am and my wife and I will have much of this weekend together without child; I pledge to be attentive, present, make her feel loved and of course I will strive to be free of lies. Truly the truth has been freeing to me and to my relationships, especially with my wife.

Just checking in. I think I continue to be lie free, but the temptation always seems to be there. It is still my default setting - always there ready to protect myself from whatever I am afraid of. (99% groundless fears). I am sorry that I missed the Thursday call. Dont think I will be able to make it in the future so I'll keep checking in here. Am thankful for all of the support all of you provide here.

Hi - I'm Larry and I'm a liar. Unfortunately I broke my 10 day lie free streak by lying today. My wife asked me a question about a sexual encounter I had with an old girlfriend 33 years ago but have lied about till just recently. She asked me about that night - if I started the sex and I said no she did. When she asked me again if that was really true I had to say the truth which was that I don't really remember that much about that one night 33 years ago. So the truthful answer when she asked me the first time should have been "I don't remember" but since she hates that answer because she thinks it is just a cover, I went ahead and lied by making up the answer I knew she wanted to her. Dang it. Oh well - tomorrow is another day with a fresh start to be lie free.

asda309 - I know exactly what you are talking about - the default setting. That's what happened to me today. Just popped right out of my mouth to try to protect myself. Sometimes it is so hard to pause and think about the answer before I speak. In an uncomfortable questioning situation, I just want the pain to go away quickly so I spurt out whatever I think the person wants to hear instead of the truth.

BTR - hope your weekend with your wife goes well and is lie free. :-)

Larry the important thing is you corrected your lie - you set the record straight - none of us are perfect and this lying stuff has become 2nd nature so it takes work. Slow down; deep breaths; think about our response then speak - sounds simple but we all know how easy it is to fall back into old habits.

This weekend has been very good - 12 step meeting yesterday and my wife started wearing her wedding ring again after 55 days of intentionally not wearing it, but then who's counting? :-) Guess I am.

I'm Laura O. and I'm a compulsive liar. Like I said the other day, it's been a long stretch for me since I've been active on this board, and now that I'm back I'm realizing how much I've needed to be back. I definitely have been spiraling down the negative behaviors spiral for a little while now (maybe since my daughter was born almost 9 months ago?). I have been focusing way too much on my husband's behavior and not enough on my own. I've managed to go through this period with not really embellishing or telling outright lies, however I have been lying by omission. I am definitely guilty of comparing how my husband is as a dad to other dad's of my friends/family/acquaintances, and it's really starting to hurt how I see him as a father. He's a wonderful husband and so I'm having a really tough time reconciling why he's not on the same level as a dad. *sigh* I can't wait until Thursday's meeting. I think it's time to start having meetings more than once a week already! haha :)

May peace and serenity be a part of all of our lives today.
