Hi, my name is Teresa and I have not lied since starting this program. Yesterday was a good day. I was tempted to embellish when asked about where I was and what happened and who I saw (day at the mall and playground). But I did not. While I spoke I caught myself, stuttered around, and then said exactly what happened. In every boring detail. I find myself stuttering a lot lately when I get asked out of the blue questions. I stutter because I am used to speaking immediately, but now I am trying to think about what I say, and check myself if it is true before I let it come out of my mouth.

I'm hoping to find some support on this site, I have a problem with lying and embellishing in conversation
and most of the time don't even realize I've done it. Recently this problem came to a head between myself
and my wife, and we are currently separated. I hope some people out there can relate and have advice. Thanks. 11/12/10

Hi, my name is Teresa and I have not lied since I joined. It is hard. I have noticed that I go out of my way to explain things so that no doubt can start up about my honesty. Not just simply lying is my problem, but also keeping relevant and pertinent details to myself or omitting them when whatever it my be we are talking about comes up. I now get defensive when I am sure that I have stated the whole, exhaustive, truth on a matter, and the other party either forgot or neglected to pay attention to it. Because of the extensive damage that my lying has done to the lives of my family and myself I have become very sensitive to what I say. What makes it so hard to stay honest and not keeping any secrets is that fact that when I have trusted people in the past, they have abused that trust and used EVERYTHING that I have said in confidence, against me and made it public (thank you internet, facebook and myspace). So it is hard to start fresh, stay honest, no more secret keeping when a big reason for to to keep them in the first place was to maintain my privacy and protect myself and my family. This is just so messed up for me. So , for today, I will try to stay honest, for at least today. :-))

hello my name is jesus and I am a liar a have been straight for over a month now. It's really hard but little by little it keeps getting easier for me. Sometimes I get the urge of lying but from the comsequences I haask mysd before I stop and ask myself do I want it to happeb again the answer is, "no" and it helps me keep going things with my family and girlfriend seem ti slowly be getting back to nowmal hopefully it stays that way. Hi my name is andy martin and i have had trouble with lieing for as long as i can remember. My fiancee and me are actually having a lot of trouble because of my problem. I live with my parents now and i am trying to do this for myself to change but i also want to show her that i can change and she can trust me again. I want to change and never lie again. I need everybodys help. I havent lied now for about 6 days now. If anyone can help me give me your advice please.

hi my name is andy and i am a liar. i just lied again to my fiancee. she asked if i looked at these pictures on the counter last nite that belonged to her roommate and i said no which i did. then i said yes i looked at a couple then i said i looked at the first package. there were two packages and i did look at just the first one. why did i do this? i think bc i panicked and knew that they werent mine so i said no i didnt but then i realized i lied and said yes i did. even if i knew that it was wrong i still need to tell the truth about anything good or bad. im not just going to lose the love of my life im going to loose everything. i have to stop. someone please help and fast.

Telling her the truth will help. I'm a liar, too, and have gone two days without lying. Speaking the truth with my wife and kids yesterday and the day before wasn't as painful as I'd thought it would be. Today is another day. I'm just beginning to understand how the truth is always positive and the lie is always negative.
