The AAs have to call or text or email their sponsors every day. Since this is the best thing we got, and after reading some of the other topics, I'm going to propose that we do the same, just to touch base.
Hi, my name's Russ, and I'm a liar. I've been honest for 3 days.

Starting Monday with renewed commitment to authenticity and living the truth. All have a good week and be kind to yourself!

Being kind to oneself is not easy if one is a liar. I have discovered that lying to others is one symptom of my problem. The other, and perhaps larger part, is lying to myself about myself. I have very little self confidence, feel as though I have been beaten down by a bad relationship that lasted over two decades, and have severe fear and anxiety, which leads to even more self loathing. I don't know exactly how this is all related to my lying to others, particularly my girlfriend who has stuck by me for so long under such difficult circumstances. However, I have got to figure this all out. Why is fear - fear of conflict, fear of failure, fear of money, fear of lack of money, fear of judgement, fear of the future, fear of the past - so controlling? Why do I allow fear to grow into me and then lie to avoid the conflict that fear is about? This invariably, and I mean invariably, leads to great conflict and then more fearful behavior. I wish I could avoid this cycle. I have been repeating a mantra every morning: "I am a man of integrity." It's only day three, but so far, no lies. The tricky part is my partner is finding out about other lies I told before I made this change and I have absolutely no leg to stand on when I say I am being honest. The boy who cried, "wolf." Or, more accurately, the boy who lied, "wolf."

By the way, My name is Ron and I'm a liar.

Good on you Ron! Face the fear! Breathe it in! Remember courage is not getting rid of fear. It is moving on in the face of fear. Reality is that we create this fear in our minds. We are still standing despite all the struggles we deal with! Integrity means doing the right thing not necessarily the easy way! Keep digging and work to change! Be kind to your inner child who just wants recognition and love. I start this day again committed to authenticity and honesty!
RonE
Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. I, too, start this day committed to authenticity and honesty.

I give gratitude for where I am today. That I have control over wher I want to go and be tomorrow . And that just being myself is perfect.
RonE
I also give gratitude for today. The control I have at the moment seems very strong, but I naturally don't trust myself, because I have no real reason to. I did send my ex-wife an honest and strong letter today about money, which has been the root of my lying problem. My girlfriend is so terribly hurt by it, because I am not only lying to her, but lying regarding money and my ex-wife. I think what I didn't ever realize was the profound damage my lying does. My girlfriend's need for safety and security is higher than most, and I totally violated that by lying to her in the way I did. What sucks is once caught in the lies, trying to defend them or lie further to escape, which of course just makes everything way worse. She is now doubting my honesty in all situations and I can't blame her at all. My lying behaviors have truly jeopardized not only our relationship, but her own sense of self, and that sucks hard. But, as I said in the first sentence, I give gratitude for today; it was a lie-free day, both to others and to myself.

Wow Ron! Well said. It is amazing how our lies distort who we really are inside. The perception of those we lie to is that we are some sort of twisted individual and our foundation becomes foggy in their eyes. Time and authenticity become our friend. Stay committed and loose self centeredness data driving force. TGIF: truth gratitude integrity and faith mark this Friday!!

I pray that all are safe as they can be from Hurricane Mathew !! Remembering not to worry about the physical things and concentrate on what is really important! Stay committed and keep pounding!

I'm Ron, I'm a liar, and today I didn't lie.

Part of my lying issue is that I operate under the false assumption that I am in this alone. That I have to handle everything in isolation, especially when it comes to my ex-wife and anything related to money. I am trying to wrap my brain around the idea (fact?) that this isn't true - that I have a partner who will support me even if I make mistakes, as long as I am honest. In the past it has been easier to lie and look the hero (imagined, anyway), than to tell the truth and invite conflict. My ability to inflate supposed conflict into a huge, evil monstrosity is second to none. The reality is, a truly honest conversation would allay my partner's fears, sooth my anxiety, and lead to a positive resolution, even if some conflict was involved in the process. This is what I need to focus on tomorrow and everyday after.

Hi all. Gwilly here and I'm a liar. Wish I wasn't, really badly.

I'm Lucy and I'm a liar. Honesty has prevailed for several weeks now - in fact it's getting on for 4 months. I wish life had always been like this, I deeply regret the way I was before.
