I did not completely share the whole truth on a past conversation. In the past I tried to set my sister up with one of my friends. I did not honestly share my role in the situation.
I am still working on being a fully honest person...not just avoiding telling lies, but being open and honest in communication and sharing feelings.
I am back at "ground zero". I have broken the trust with my boyfriend that we were trying to rebuild. He was asking me questions about the affair that I had four years ago with another man that last 2 months. I started lying about the answer to the questions he was asking and I started twisting the truth. I ended lying several times during the conversation. I was feeling shame about having any pleasure from my affair and did not want to share these details. Now, I have broken the trust we were rebuilding. I feel ashamed.
I just want to pretend that the cheating never happened, but I am avoiding responsibility for my actions. I am avoiding dealing with the cheating and they lying and the pain it has caused him. He has given me nothing but kindness and support, and I only give him lies and broken promises.
I feel pathetic and worthless.
Chrissy I know how tough this road is, and I know how you feel, I'm sending you as much strength as I can muster to help you through this, I believe in you. Turn your focus to how you can make your boyfriend feel as loved as I know you do, and give with all your heart. It takes time to break this habit but together we will make it.

Great work, indeed!
I just found this post, wondering how a 6 y.o. post was was trending near the top and saw that it had many many new posts in it.
My name is Gerry and I am a liar. I have been honest for 20 days.
I wish everyone in this group and those who have yet to find this group peace, love, and the strength to find/stay on the path!
The last few weeks have been good - when the website changed it confused me and I haven't posted for several weeks. During this time, my husband and I talked about things that had happened in my past that I hadn't been truthful about before, and it made us both stronger. Last week though something happened wheich made him question an event which had happened when we first knew each other. It was a time which was really distressing to me and in the few weeks since we had spoken openly about it I have been trying to put it out of my mind. last week, I told a slightly different story - that I didn't know three people present at all, when actually I had know two of them. At the time I said this, I really believed it to be true, but then when I thought again I recalled an incident where I could visualise the two people that I knew. He sees this as a lie and is really struggling with it. I really want to resolve it and forget about it - it was a really upsetting time and has affected me on some level for almost 24 years. I can't remember some parts of it and don't know eactly what happened. It sometimes feels like I am trying to fill in the gaps and I don't want this - I just don't know what to do. My husband says we aren't going backwards, we just seem to be stuck. He says that it's not what happened in the past that is important but that I am honest about it. It is such a small thing but as he says, if he gets 27 different versions of it, what is he to believe?
