Liars Anonymous Community Group
A support group to provide those with a compulsive addiction to lie a place to share hope, strength and courage with others like them; solve our common problem and help others with a compulsion to lie. We aren't alone!
I was given an ultimatum by my wife that could cost me my family, I was asked to come clean about every lie was out there between us. I thought of some big ones, but I did not come clean entirely about a lie that was a half truth, and it came back on me a few days later day. Why wasn't able I to come clean entirely? i know with every fiber of being it is better to be honest, but yet I still try to protect some aspect of me by not exposing myself entirely. I have started meeting with a therapist to help me through the process. I am hoping with his help and the help of this group that I will be able to use honesty has my coping mechanism.
I am a liar, and I have not lied for 4 hours.
I am successful - not as the levels I would like to be - and I lie to live in a fantasy world that is better then the world I am in now -
This is my 1st step
I am a liar - and this is hard
How do I overcome this feeling of shame which seems to be running my thoughts and feelings?
I am a liar - I haven't lied in two days
Anyway, what compelled me to rejoin is that more and more people are joining this group every day, looking for help. Not one of us is perfect, and neither am I. Not even close. And seeing that renewed my faith in myself.
And what compelled me to check in is narrator's feeling of shame. I recently read, and firmly believe, that "shame" implies that you're a bad person, whereas "guilt" and "remorse" imply that you did bad things.
Shame means that you don't like yourself, whereas guilt and remorse mean that you want to change.
I don't think anyone here is a bad person, and therefore they shouldn't feel shame. I know it's hard because you feel as though you don't like yourself right now, but the fact you're all here says something about you and that you do like yourself because you do want to change.
No matter how hard.
I'm John. I'm a horrible liar. I still lie. It's day f**king zero. Again. But here I am. Again.
I hope you all have a great day and week of I don't get on here before next week
I joined this group almost 8 weeks ago and I was doing well. My relationship with my husband improved beyond all measure and life looked very good. Good things started happening.
Then I lied about something that had happened in a previous relationship. It would not have been a big deal to him. But I lied and told two different stories within a couple of weeks. The story I told eventually was the truth but that isn't the point. I lied after I joined this group.
I really could have summoned up the strength to tell the truth and it wouldn't have taken that much.
