With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.

Hi, My name is Sam and I'm new to this group. I am 23 and have had trich since I was 12. Over the years I have tried many times to stop, however it's only this past year that I have started to research ways of stopping, and have been really determined to do it. I plan on doing so with a combination of understanding, will-power, exercise, trying the John Kender diet, and seeing a therapist. I love designing, illustrating, cooking, extreme sports, exercising, seeing live music and reading. I would love to provide others with encouragement, and maybe get some support when I fall.

You can do this! It's the cycle of trich that I find the hardest to break, stay strong, you can do this!

I found myself scratching my scalp and took a shower. That helped.

Pulled a hair in a moment of frustration and rage. Was about 50% conscious.

I'm not on day 23 anymore, I'm on day 22 again. If I don't pull another hair then I'm happy.

one hair is okay, if it's doesn't lead to more pulling.. be extra vigilant cause the monster can be sneaky!

    My therapist really knocked some sense into me last Friday about my spending.  She said that there are needs and there are wants.  She said that there is always going to be cheap stuff to buy, but do I need it?  The answer is mostly "no".  So today, I am taking back some things that I bought online at Kohl's, namely a 9 x 12 rug and a quilt for my bed.  I also bought sheets that I don't need...
