Beating Trich Community Group
You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.

Hi, My name is Sam and I'm new to this group. I am 23 and have had trich since I was 12. Over the years I have tried many times to stop, however it's only this past year that I have started to research ways of stopping, and have been really determined to do it. I plan on doing so with a combination of understanding, will-power, exercise, trying the John Kender diet, and seeing a therapist. I love designing, illustrating, cooking, extreme sports, exercising, seeing live music and reading. I would love to provide others with encouragement, and maybe get some support when I fall.

I'm finding it very difficult at the moment. Not looking for advice right now, cos I know what I need to do, I just need to do it.
- Barriers (beanie and or bandaids)
- Deterrents (mirror stuck to laptop)
- Reminders that I NEED to be pull free or I will get a big bald spot, and it might not grow back
- Willpower - Keeping hands down, and bringing them down as soon as I realise they're up
Keep your barriers up, hugs instead of tugs! You can do this!
Here's to all of our success, one step at a time!!!
Hope you are successful tomorrow.
Here for u
HUGS
You got this.
You got this.

Just keep on going, cause one day you'll suddenly find the motivation again and you'll wonder why it was so hard before :) I hope that one day will be very soon though!!
hugs!! you can do this
Yep lien, you're so right. You nailed it there! "one day you'll suddenly find the motivation again and you'll wonder why it was so hard before :)" We keep trying that's what matters. It does.
xx Day 1 going well, however did pull a hair in a moment of RAGE!!!!!! My phone + internet company have been effing me over and it's been going on forever and yeah I lost it this morning.
Glad you are doing well still.
YES!!
as a quick aside, you run? i HATE running.
HUGSSSSS
Not today for me. Pulled 15 hairs today.
Alex, I haven't gone for a run in 3-4 months.. But if I didn't I probably would have caused myself to have an aneurism.
Regular exercise helps so much. It can be hard to motivate yourself, but once you are in it, it is bliss.
There are few things more rage-inducing than phone/internet/TV service companies. All I wanted to do when I got home was be a couch-potato & watch "True Blood", and the whole damn thing was down!! arghhhh!!
Shake those hands. Shake the urge away.
HUGS!!!
