With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.

Hi, My name is Sam and I'm new to this group. I am 23 and have had trich since I was 12. Over the years I have tried many times to stop, however it's only this past year that I have started to research ways of stopping, and have been really determined to do it. I plan on doing so with a combination of understanding, will-power, exercise, trying the John Kender diet, and seeing a therapist. I love designing, illustrating, cooking, extreme sports, exercising, seeing live music and reading. I would love to provide others with encouragement, and maybe get some support when I fall.

Two days pull free.

I pulled last night, a fair bit. Felt so dirty and ashamed afterward. The experience was like a one night stand, or eating two cheeseburgers in the middle of the day when you're not even drunk or hungover. Never worth it!

Bad me. I'll be better today.

I'm having difficulties getting back on track as well. Don't stop trying, cause just one day you'll suddenly get through those first days and continue counting big numbers again.. You've done it multiple times, you can do this!!

Only pulled one hair today. Perhaps two. I forget. It might have just been one. Irritating, but it'll make tomorrow easier. It's 6pm, I can stay tough for the rest of tonight.

honey, stick a bandana or some barrier on your head.. while you are at home pottering about.. the physical barrier is a great reminder.. or a plaster on your forefinger.... you can do it.. we all here for you ! x

get a koosh ball! I love to play with those things. or silly puddy.Anything to keep hands busy. Also I wanted to tell everyone, I went to bath and body works with a friend and they have this menthol body wash and lotion. We smelled it and it was so refreshing, it sent chills down our spines. you have to try it!!!

Ice packs to numb the urges..Lavender essential oil to sooth and calm, rub some on the sore spots on the scalp or in hair. Have you tried Gotu-Kola Tincture? I take this for stress relief when I feel the urge to pull. I hope you feel better soon, one day at a time we are all here to support you:)

Thanks thanks thanks for all the tips guys, you're the best. I think a beanie is the best idea, as my scalp is neither "urgey" or itchy or burn-y. I'll find mine. It's a panda beanie!!!!! Now where the hell is it..

Been an atrocious morning from hell, no joke! But things are better now. Not entirely pull free, just subconsciously pulled a few. Shit! But really, considering the shit going down at the moment, I forgive myself!

Rest of the day will be pf though. I did well yesterday, only pulled 2.

So sorry you've been having a tough time! But at least it seems you've only been pulling a few each day, and a few is definitely better than a lot. Still, though. Pull-free it up. Hands down missy. No more excuses!

Thanks Emmy! After reading "no more excuses!" I went and put on my panda beanie. It's damn cute, I've worn it all over the world! (Ok just Europe Uk and NZ). I need a bit of tough love. Agree, a few is better than a lot, but none is even better than a few.
