You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.

Hi, My name is Sam and I'm new to this group. I am 23 and have had trich since I was 12. Over the years I have tried many times to stop, however it's only this past year that I have started to research ways of stopping, and have been really determined to do it. I plan on doing so with a combination of understanding, will-power, exercise, trying the John Kender diet, and seeing a therapist. I love designing, illustrating, cooking, extreme sports, exercising, seeing live music and reading. I would love to provide others with encouragement, and maybe get some support when I fall.

It's very weird, but maybe we'll gradually learn to separate 'our' voice from the 'trich' voice... Right now they are one and the same for me... I'm always like "Shut up trichsam".

I love dancing! I don't go that often. I remember doing so many crazy things.. ha! There was this guy kinda grinding up against a girl, and so all of us started this line of grinding behind him. It was so funny cos he didn't notice/care!!!!! And we were all rubbing up against him! I'd love you to join me next time hehe.

hahahahaha I was at a party once, and this guy was doing the same with this girl - looked so silly that my husband & I jumped in behind him & ground away too. Well, we thought it was funny.

Hehe Phoebe that was my thought exactly, he looked so ridiculous and was doing it for ages so we thought it was hilarious to do the same to him! Haha, was especially funny as there were several guys in our group. Thanks and thanks. Is this something that you have noticed I wonder? When I let my hair dry naturally rather than blow drying it, the TACTILE urge decreases.. I think. Because the hair is more slippery/smooth/soft... Hm.

I started a new goal tonight, to keep my hands down for a week! If my hand finds is way up there I must take it down immediately. No playing with my hair. It's going to be so hard! Perhaps one week is too ambitious. But I'm going to keep a tally along with my pull free tally. It's going to take aaaaaages to be totally hands down but it can be done and I think this is the way to do it!

Ooh already failed!! Does anyone else run a thinnish strand (about 20 hairs, still attached to head) of hair through their mouth til it's wet, and then run the wet strand through their fingers? I think I developed this habit a while ago as a replacement when I tried to stop pulling.

OOOO that is so difficult. It is still so hard to keep my hands from touching my hair. One week huh? You go girl. You can do this. Try and try again!!
Hmmm i dont do that to my hair attached to my head. I used to do that to every hair I pulled out. Right now, my hair is too short to run it through mymouth while attached to my head. lol.

Sounds like you had a blast.you, Phoebe, and her husband sound fun!! haha :)

I do the same too. I reprimand myself when my trich side starts to come out.

It is hard but I know it can be done.. But realistically I know it will take several years to completely eliminate it. Best not to think that way, one day at a time. Blah blah.

Sam, have you seen Summer Heights High and We Can Be Heroes?? I think it's from Australia, I love Chris Lilly, he portray almost all the characters in those two series. They are sooo funny.

Actually, I meant the inbetweeners not misfits. I haven't seen misfits (another english show) but have heard it's good. WOW my brain really wasn't working last night!!!!

Phoebe that's a shame.... British shows are the best. honestly, I hate what Americans do to sitcoms. There are only a few I like; Modern Family, Mad Men.... Ummmmmm. I'm sure there might be another one or two. Oh I like Cougar town, it's actually rather funny.
