I’m 21 and in school for social work. I was in a terrible car accident on 7/31/16. I almost lost my left leg and i have had 12 surgeries to reconstruct it. I still have 1-2 more (counting my knee). I struggle with PTSD, anxiety, accepting my new life, and a few other things. I’m here to know that i am not alone.

i feel like i have plateaued. I feel like I’m going to be like this forever. I have lost faith in being able to walk without assistance again. I don’t know what to do. I feel like my surgeon has made me wait too long for PT that I’ll never get the full restoration that i have been praying for. Has as anyone else felt like this?

Tonight, i want to give up. I think it would be easier for me to lay in bed everyday, be waited on hand & foot, and rest and try to feel better. But I can’t. I need to fight this pain and fatigue. I need to get up and walk, and when I feel pain i need to know that it’s cause I’m doing better.But tonight this optimism has gone out the window. I’m tired. I want to quit. I want to accept my fate as being in a wheelchair for long distances and limping when i walk. I know i could get past...

Any suggestions on sleep?

i have chronic pain in my back and my left leg. The pain in my left leg is due to a car accident and multiple surgeries. The suggested way for me to sleep is on my back with my leg elevated, but it is hard for me to sleep on my back. I can only sleep on my side. Does anyone havw any suggestions to help me sleep with my chronic pain??? It keeps me up all night and i wake up about every hour readjusting

On July 31st of last year, I fell asleep at the wheel and went into the median of the highway. A metal post went through the floorboard of my car, through the bottom of my seat, the bottom of my thigh, and came out of the top and touched my chest. Almost went in. My femoral artery was missed by 1 mm. I was in a ventilator and paralyzed on my left lower side for a few weeks. I was in the hospital for 7.5 weeks. I have had 12 surgeries to reconstruct my leg.
