  I posted this in a group earlier, but it's pretty much the same sentiment I share with several of the new groups I've joined since my return:Years ago, I was a member of several groups on dailystrength, most of which were so helpful and life saving to me at that time.   Years ago, I was a member of several groups on dailystrength, most of which were so helpful and life saving to me at that time. I recently joined a couple new groups based on where I am in my life now. I have to say, I'm really not impressed.   My partner has been sober since January after drinking at some level or the other all his adult life. He's always been high functioning with a cushy high paying job and was a fun drunk, so drinking never seemed an issue until it was. For the last decade+ I have been a single mom of a girl (now 23), a boy (now 21) and an informally "adopted" daughter (now 24) who has a 5-year-old son.   It's been about 6 years since I've been on any of these support groups, but back then, they truly saved my life. I am not sure if it's appropriate or allowed to ask this, but over the last several years, I've put myself through school (sociology and criminal justice) as a single mom and I'm currently looking at doing some various research that might be helpful to understanding various aspects of abuse.   It's been 6 years, almost to the day since I journaled here. I'm in a new relationship (of 15 months) and doing well. For a bit of catch up, I returned to school and received my degree in sociology and criminal justice a couple of years ago. I've had the chance to work on a campus rape prevention project and with some amazing folks.
