  Long story short: I'm a peer support specialist which means I work with people recovering from mental illness to get them out into the community more, and one of my clients is incredibly triggering for me. He reminds me a lot of my abusive brother, but when I went to my supervisors with this concern, they said: "it just sounds like you don't want to work."   Does anyone else get triggered by really unkind and/or rude people? I've had countless abusive relationships in my life, and I'm noticing getting triggered more and more by unkindness. Anyone relate?

  It's my mother's birthday today and of course my narcissistic abuser of a brother has been keeping her on edge with whether or not she's coming. She has been frantically cleaning the house getting ready for him and her stress levels are so high. It's so unfair and heartbreaking that she has to be so hyper-vigilant on her 60th birthday.   I'm not even sure if I have a right to post here, but a repressed memory came up in which a childhood girl friend of mine consistently groped my breasts and butt, put her hand between my legs, and tried taking my clothes off when we were kids. After I kept telling her to stop, she'd laugh and keep doing it. I was about 13-14 and she was 9-10. I just assumed it was curiosity, but it always made me feel ashamed, violated, and hesitant to see her again. (We were neighbors and she did it every time...

  Abusers Can be Good People???

  Do any of you think abusers can be good people who just happen to be abusers or does being an abuser disqualify you from being a "good person"? Many of my abusers seemed like good, nice people so I'm grappling with that debate. What do you guys think?

  I had a really disturbing dream about my trauma last night: my dad who died from cancer was back to life, horribly ill again and was dying. It was much more vivid and emotional than usual. How do you guys cope with your nightmares?
