Beating Trich Community Group
You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.
BooYah
This is Trish Tolamania from trichworld if you don't know (yes, I wrote the alias trying to be funny).
I had one pull free streak last November/December, the longest one I remember having ever. Checking in with this community was such a huge help, in order to achieve that. In February I started pulling again and, after a few lame attempts to slow it down, I gave up altogether and just started pulling again at will.
Now it's July 1, I am 3 days pull free and I just want to take it DAY BY DAY and get involved in this community again! I hadn't logged in for so long, when I did log in last week, I started crying hysterically. Isn't that funny?
My main goal right now is to reach 7 days pull free, then buy myself some really expensive hair product as a reward. But I know my main reward for stopping will just be FEELING GOOD AND NOT HAVING TO WORRY ABOUT IT SO MUCH!

I don't really know how to label this but I having a rough week and I can't say it's one thing.... I have a lot on my plate which is nothing new and I try to cope in many positive ways and do but I still have my moments. My kids more so my daughters talk to me about everything which I know it's cause of comfort and we are close.... however I really struggle with the venting about their dad which...

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

So in some ways it's much better for me to just NOT pull at all, then to pull and then try to limit the pulling....
Today I was PULL FREE but I didn't do any stressful activities so it was easy. Still a victory though!
I am motivated to be PULL FREE TOMORROW...
since i started getting my shit together on March 5, I've pulled 182 hairs from my actual scalp and 40 hairs from my hair extensions, for a total of 222 hairs.
This gives me a success rate of 69% in the past 13 days.... according to my stupid habit-tracking app. Ha ha ha! Maybe I will should create some kind of data visualization or a Google chart of my attempt to stop pulling. How funny (nerdy?) would that be.
Tomorrow if I have time I need to go down to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription for Klonopin. I have NEVER been on any kind of prescribed mental health medication. I'll be curious to see if it helps with my anxiety and my ability to focus --- and hence with my ability to keep my hands down.
Sometimes, I find, if you look at it too closely, it traps you into obsessing. I understand how the close tracking gives you a framework that is very supportive, but try to let go and trust yourself a little. You can do it. Get out if your head & into your zen. Feel it, let it float, visualize. Heavy hands.
Hugs!!!
You can do this.. One day at a time.
Hugs.
Hugs to you both!
I am doing well. 3 days pull free! Tomorrow is Day 4!
I already like the look of my hair so much more when I look at it in the mirror. Isn't that funny. I'm like, "aw, it's not so thin." I haven't been wearing my extensions either. I got sick of wearing them every day last week.
This is IMPRESSIVE given how much hair I was pulling out before, if I do say so myself.
Ha haha at least that is one good thing about having an app, it does help me keep track.
Day 5 already! So impressive!
Not restarting my count because I DON'T WANT TO. So, ha!
Had a good therapy session today.
Still haven't picked up my Klonopin.
Haven't been drinking caffeine either.
Not drinking caffeine is a huge help with reducing urges!! You are doing well!
