However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

I don't really know how to label this but I having a rough week and I can't say it's one thing....
I have a lot on my plate which is nothing new and I try to cope in many positive ways and do but I still have my moments.
My kids more so my daughters talk to me about everything which I know it's cause of comfort and we are close....
however I really struggle with the venting about their dad which is constant because he an asshole basically. I have tried to set boundaries with them because I can't help.....I do not talk to their dad period. He got away with not helping for so many years now and that upset me so bad, but I have to be adult and deal with it.
This is weekly occurence with youngest anytime she talks to him and I get needing to vent. But it almost triggering because while he isn't as bad with them as me, he still controlling and tries to make them feel bad if they don't agree or do what he wants. I tried to talk to her about boundaries and she need to communicate things she doesn't like or want to do. She frustrated me so bad I had to get off the phone, as I am away for work and I honestly cried over intense anxiety not about this situation, but I just can't listen to the same issues over and over which probably makes me a bad mom.
He wants them to do something this weekend and she doesn't want to go. She told him so and he said he needs her to do it for him, then she said he said he getting the ticket. I basically told her you are 18 you can say no. This child literally thinks her answer to dealing with this man is moving from west coast to east coast. That's her solution she explained tonight.
I struggling as I do with life stress and what is on me. Right now I have so many doctor appt and crazy busy work schedules.

to talk to a therapist, but it might help
her learn to deal with her dad.
What I discovered after a few trial and error conversations, was it got much better in some ways and much worse in others, and so I kept at it.
When the other parent makes their usual refrain, it no longer fits the new pattern of choices for the young adult and it works to help change in a tiny way.
It's not easy watching the adult children learn from their experience what we already learned before, however, that's what we do.
Best wishes in finding the calm to help you be comfortable with being the sounding board because she trusts you. That's important as well.
