Beating Trich Community Group
You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.

Hi, My name is Sam and I'm new to this group. I am 23 and have had trich since I was 12. Over the years I have tried many times to stop, however it's only this past year that I have started to research ways of stopping, and have been really determined to do it. I plan on doing so with a combination of understanding, will-power, exercise, trying the John Kender diet, and seeing a therapist. I love designing, illustrating, cooking, extreme sports, exercising, seeing live music and reading. I would love to provide others with encouragement, and maybe get some support when I fall.

I don't really know how to label this but I having a rough week and I can't say it's one thing.... I have a lot on my plate which is nothing new and I try to cope in many positive ways and do but I still have my moments. My kids more so my daughters talk to me about everything which I know it's cause of comfort and we are close.... however I really struggle with the venting about their dad which...

You're going to make it through the challenges! You're working through the tough moments with a move forward, awesome!
I agree, the numbers, not so much, however, they're a detail to help, and you're meeting the ultimate goal, your self, your well-being!
Yeah I'm doing ok. 2's the last two days.
I love that "oh shit hands down" reaction.... You are doing great Sam!
Glad to hear that you had a nice day in the city. Seeing art exhibitions sounds like so much fun!! That's also one of my favorite things to do.
Sometimes, those barriers give us just enough pause to stand strong, especially coping with financial stuff and service providers (two major triggers for me with stress sores...).
Take care of yourself!
Thanks mid, you're right. Thanks :)
A 4 for today. Just had a very long meeting with some family including my grandpa about him having to go into care. That's where I did my pulling. It went ok, considering.
I dried my hair naturally today and it's so curly. Fun :) Looks pretty good!
So it's an 8 for today. Highest score yet.
I'll just keep trying. Might start off my day (tomorrow) with a vigorous shampoo and a blow dry.
Remember what Claudia Miles says, the bad days are inevitable, it is about having more good days than bad days over time....
Just 6 hairs today is awesome! I am sure that 8 on the calendar will just be an anomaly, as you continue to commit to your recovery. I'm also not surprised that you had a day of intense pulling after dealing with that family stuff. It is stressful dealing with that whole issue of aged grandparents and who is responsible for taking care of them! : ( Hugs to you.
I'm doing my best to focus on the good days.
Ugh unfortunately last night just before bed I pulled a bunch. Hormones + upsetting issue. And I pulled right in the "no no" zone. By that of course, I mean the tender part of my scalp covered in thinning re- growth. So I think maybe a 5 for yesterday. Better than an 8 though! It's frustrating as until about 3pm it was a zero, then until 9pm it was a 3. But never mind, breathe, it's fine.
