Beating Trich Community Group
You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.

Hi, My name is Sam and I'm new to this group. I am 23 and have had trich since I was 12. Over the years I have tried many times to stop, however it's only this past year that I have started to research ways of stopping, and have been really determined to do it. I plan on doing so with a combination of understanding, will-power, exercise, trying the John Kender diet, and seeing a therapist. I love designing, illustrating, cooking, extreme sports, exercising, seeing live music and reading. I would love to provide others with encouragement, and maybe get some support when I fall.

I don't really know how to label this but I having a rough week and I can't say it's one thing.... I have a lot on my plate which is nothing new and I try to cope in many positive ways and do but I still have my moments. My kids more so my daughters talk to me about everything which I know it's cause of comfort and we are close.... however I really struggle with the venting about their dad which...

I'm glad it wasn't actual heat stroke, that is deadly.
I think the fact that there's an actual person attached to the posts makes it so powerful and easy to connect for me. Though I could never do that myself - I spend so much time hiding it and would hate for people to know about it. Though at times I have thought it would be so freeing to just be so open about it and tell people I know…hmm…would require so much bravery. Also, I think most of my fear of telling people comes from the fact that I'd be scared to fail and pull and have people know that I'm not able to overcome it.
Phoebe, just search for BeckieO on youtube....she has a series of trich blogs on there. (Is there a special name for it if it is a youtube blog?)
Hi j, I agree and resonate with so much of what you wrote. Great to hear from you too!
Pulling spiralled out of control (oh wasn't actually out of control but I felt kind of trapped in the gross cycle) this afternoon. And yesterday afternoon too. Blah blah!
Hugs instead of tugs, and stay strong!
Blah, 3 hrs sleep last night. Went for a walk today and it was great. Spring is officially here! :) at the moment I have a rating of 2 (5 hairs). It's 3.30pm. Time for barriers.
I got a 3 for today :) I pulled a few more subconscious hairs. A 3 for me is a maximum of 9 hairs. I scored 3 5s in the previous few days (up to 24 hairs per day). So it's a big difference. I think all but one of the hairs I pulled today were subconscious. Yay! Honestly, I've got renewed motivation because I can see the damage I've done to my regrowth. Ah well.
You're doing wonderful! I have had success with hairspray helping me to keep my hands off, so best wishes!!!
