  My husband was in the ICU for two weeks.  He had the flu and didn't feel well enough to drink and went into withdrawal. He was intubated for over a week and my kids and I were there every day.  He agreed to go into rehab and he's been there for half of his 30 days.   I think I'm different from a lot of the people who post here. I've posted before but a little background.  I'm 62 and my husband is an extremely high functioning alcoholic. We have four grown children and six grandchildren. Our life has been very good.  I think it was about five years or so since I realized him drinking heavily, and then 3 years ago he was hospitalized with a BAC of 4.06, which I understand would kill most people.   Has anyone here tried Alanon and what did you think? My husband has mostly quit drinking and is trying very hard. He's not abusive and never has been but I'm struggling with everything and my fear that he's going to die.  He has a heart condition and is also dealing with glaucoma which has been very difficult for him.  My children are great and very supportive. Is Alanon mostly for those whose people who are still have spouses who are still drinking?
