I finally did it. As it is one of the hardest decisions of my life, I feel free. I have been married for a short 7 months and with my husband for a little over 4 years. After he decided to drink all day yesterday and today and rant and rave at me, I told him I was done. I don't want to live my life going in these circles with the ups and downs. My mom did it for 17 years and I can already see that is where my life is going. I can't do it anymore. I am scared but I will get by. I hope anyone else going through this has enough strength to stand up and improve their life. Now I just have to find a place to live with 2 dogs and a cat...ugh....that will be hard.

Thinking of you and wishing you well! I don't know you, but I'm so proud of you for making the decision! I'm sure it must have been very difficult and took a lot of courage. Be safe, be strong.

I am so proud of you for having the strength and courage to make this choice for yourself. I'm getting there. Believe me, this is no easy road. Hugs, many hugs!

Well, he called me today at work and apologized and begged me to give it one more try. He said he went to an AA meeting and suggested a marriage counselor that he inquired about. He said that he was going to get sober and stay sober. I said I'd have to think about it and we are supposed to talk when he gets home. I guess I am a sucker but he is a great guy when he's sober so I'm gonna give it a shot.

And thank you everyone for the comments. It's nice to know I'm not alone, although I wish no one had to go through this.....

And they suck you back in again...that is the cycle. I'm not judging you at all - I was on that ride for too many years, giving chance after chance, hoping he would FINALLY realize all that he was jeopardizing and come to his senses. I hope it works out for you!

Here we go again. He is drinking beer (no more hard liquor) but I think he is taking too many pain pills for his back because he just seems so angry all the time. Or maybe he resents me because I'm the reason he's not drinking vodka. I admit, we have not been intimate and its driving him mad. He says I never talk but why would I want to talk (or be intimate) with someone who is always angry. He keeps saying if I want to end things, just tell him. The last time i said i was done and he begged me the next day to try one more time. We went to our first counseling session last week and it was good but we have gotten in 3 BIG fights since then and each time, I don't even know what it's about, and when I ask him, he can't be specific. Always just brings up the no sex and that I don't talk. (which I do talk) I really just want to run away.

It took me 10years to realize that my AH would find things to get angry at me about to make himself feel better for his addiction issues. It is a cycle with him. I had to start pulling away, disengaging, to protect myself and keep my sanity. We have been married 13 years now...looking back I do wish I had left early on. I dream of a day this will be all over. It is a very hard path to take. It is not fun to be with someone who purposely tries to find your faults in order to lift himself up. Here I am so many years later and it has not changed. I now need to decide what I am willing to live with and what is a deal breaker. Sorry you are dealing with all of this, it's not how it should be. I really can't stand the anger, I miss having peace.

That's what he will do manipulate the situation to blame you to validate his drinking over and over again. It's maddening. Stick.to your gut and do what's right for you.
