Took my daily walk in Mexico today in the other direction on my new street, away from town toward the mountain behind my house. Whoa. Toward town, where I've only gone every day of the week I've lived here so far, is super modern. Away from town, back where I walked today, the street turns to a dirt road really fast, and the houses into huts. Folks are friendly there, greeting me as I walked by, but poor. Like Mexico poor, dirt poor. Whoa.

Big contrast in my walk today. I went to the 20 block pedestrian-only walking street set up for the tourists downtown. Fancy shmancy.

I'm learning when to walk in my new San Cristobal city home in Mexico. Since we're 7,000 feet up, it's a nice 70 degrees Fahrenheit all year round. But there are 2 seasons: rainy and dry. We're in the rainy season now from May-Sept. When it rains it pours, and it usually does that in the early afternoon. I got caught downtown on the street at that time last week and got soaked from head to toe. Today I got up early and got my walk in before my dental appointment at 10am, and got home again before the daily downpour. It was a good, strong walk, and a nice dry one, too.

One of the nuns from the convent I rent my house from walked with me today--Sister Elvira. A really jolly lady she is. It was nice to have someone to walk with!

I've been having a hard time but I walked 2.1 miles today in the rain.

Muji, happy you are settling in and getting your walks too. I hope you are enjoying retirement. So many places folded in the pandemic. Here too. Places are starting to open up. I had breakfast out last weekend. My puppy was born last week and this week I decided to buy my Dad a golden retriever puppy for Father’s Day. I was shocked at how much those puppies were going for. Just when I was ready to give up, I received a call from a new breeder only 10 minutes from my Dads home saying she had a new litter of puppies. Today my Dad was able to go to the breeders home and pick out a puppy. I thought he was going to cry on the phone. He had been wanting one, but way out of his price range. The only way I could afford one was the fact that the breeder had an accident and her female bred with a non champion bloodline which made the puppy affordable, but you can’t tell, they are beautiful puppies and my dad is not showing so it worked out perfect. This way my dad will get some extra walking too once he has the new puppy. I have been walking with my dog and husband, trying to rehabilitate his leg and mine. We are still waiting on his diagnosis

Congrats on the puppy! So great to look forward to future walks to be had with your new dog for both hubby's rehab and yours. I haven't been walking yet but I'm about to do it downtown on the big crowded pedestrian street where I'll meet my Mexican friends.

Did my walk today after a brutal appointment with the dentist. Yikes!

Whew, today's one of those days when I'm so tired that when I walk it feels gravity itself got heavier. But I did my walk, and I got errands done while I was out, too.

I've been getting home late but keeping up with my walks. 2.1 miles again tonight.

Good for you, Rizen. I did my walk down here in Mexico today, too, and for the first time in days without a cane.

I got half of my walk in and then it just poured rain. I'm indoors now waiting it out. Up here at 7k ft in the Mexican mountains it's 70 degrees all year, but there are too seasons--rainy and dry. Guess which we're in now until Sept.

I timed my walk with the daily rainstorm here in Mexico's mountains just right today. When the gullywasher came I was done and already back inside and dry.
