Infertility Support Group
In vitro fertilization is one of the most common and utilized ways of treating conception problems. This support group is dedicated to those beginning their journey with IVF and needing support. Join the community and share your experiences, advice, and story with people going through similar challenges starting a family.
I am in the 2ww of my 1st cycle of IVF. I had my egg retrieval on Dec 10 and they harvested 20 eggs. 18 were mature, 15 fertilized. They decided to do a 3dt with 2 grade 3 8-cell embryos...they let the others grow in the lab. I have 3 frozen blastocysts now on reserve.
I've been nervous because my estrogen level was pretty high (3886 on trigger day) and today when it was tested it was 450. Should it have dropped that low? I have been doing everything right....I just want this so bad!! I thought maybe interacting with others who are also going through the process now would help ease my mind. :-)
So sorry... wish i had something to say to make you feel better. I know how you feel our 1st IVF did not work either.
Just want you to know Im thinking of you.
And if I can give you any hope..Ive had multiple friends/family members get pregnant on round 2.
@essie, welcome to the board. Dh = dear husband. There is an abbreviation list somewhere on the main board, or google.
I am sooo happy you joined as we are the last of the year. We had ER on the 10th too. Our POAS day is the 28th. The wait is killer. Yesterday I started to doubt the outcome, but my shrink straightened me out (that plus watching twins on YouTube bouncing to Johnny Cash).
Update: 2 froze so I sighed a little. I don't know if I would be willing to do another ER, but implant? Probably. So we have a backup.
And otherwise, I am super bloated and was put on a liquid shake regiment, no water allowed. Pants don't fit or barely fit...DH thinks it is the bag of chocolate pretzels I ate after implantation...I chuckle, sort of.
Endo, my OB office said that even though I'm pregnany my right ovaries (where most of my eggs came from) is still enlarged.....so I definitely feel you with the pants not fitting......
Essie, welcome to the group :-)
2ww girls, good luck...you'll be just fine....and I can't wait to hear the results!!!Praying for you all!
I will be joining you after Thursday.
We are scheduled for an FET on Thursday. We have 5 embryos left and they are all perfect...so we are lucky, BUT
Im in doubt mode..why didnt it work 1st time and what if I start the new year with sh#tty news again :(
Doesnt help that another 2 friends announced their pregnancies this week.....
Damn rollercoster of IF
cab, fingers crossed for your transfer.
cheering for a hat-trick of BFP's! x
I have Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome. It happens to about 1/3 of women on stimulation and about 1/20 (5%) develop moderate or severe OHSS.
Not sure which category I fit in yet, the interesting news I found on this web site:
http://www.rcog.org.uk/files/rcog-corp/Ovarian%20Hyperstimulation%20Syndrome.pdf
Is that the symptoms will decrease if I am not pregnant, but may increase if I am!!! I'm so bloated right now, none of my pants fit, I'm only fitting in my super stretchy clothes, I even considered buying maternity pants last night at Target, but they looked too maternity (would have singled me out at work for sure!).
Please send a little prayer my way. They measured the fluid build up and said the "good" news is that they didn't send me straight to the ER today. If it continues, I'll be put on an IV (for dehydration) and potentially put under and have the fluid pulled out of me with a long needle (picture ER all over again). I didn't realize it was so serious yesterday and now am mad at myself for drinking water. Doc says only drink protein drinks or things with a lot of salt...but those drinks have like 250 calories a pop and I'm really really thirsty right now...
Is it ok that I'm a little scared?
What is your E2 level??
Prayers to you...
Lots of powerade, gaterade, (get the zero..no calories, and plenty of sodium) PRetzels! Canned soup! Ham.. All have lot of sodium.
I had mild OHS and was miserable, so Im thinking of you.
i also had OHSS but they discvered it during the ER, I thought it was during this procedure that the RE could see that the ovaries were swollen. Strange, how its only appearing for you now.
It is a pain and very uncomfortable, its a really bummer that you have to go through this also.
I'm thinking of you and will say a prayer that the gatorade and salt works and you don't have to face another big needle :)!
stick, festive dust

I JUST tried to put my baggy pants on again, and sure enough they fit 3 days ago but now they are far from fitting. It's all about stretchy skirts for me at the moment...
ugh, this could hinder my holiday plans this weekend with family. I hope not.
Well, I saw the doc again today since my pants don't fit by about 4 inches now...and the good news is that the fluid build-up is going down! I'm still completely bloated, which it sounds like that's my body re-absorbing the fluid again? I dunno, I just know that in time it should eventually stop hurting when I pee. :-)
1 week from today is POAS day. My office waits 18 days from ER, and I saw on-line that more typical it is 14 days...anyone have a guess about the difference in opinions on this one?
