Endowife: I will be on this schedule with you if my U/S on day one of my IF (end of October) shows that the cysts have left. I have my meds already too. I am new to IVF as well, no children and have been TTC for 2.5 years with Endo being the cause of infertility. Much like you.

I have my meds already because we were going to do IUI this month with injections, and the injections will now be used for IVF! Yes we could both have a dry new year, honestly I'd love that!!!!

Hi ladies! I'm also starting my first IVF cycle. My DH and i have been married for 3 years and trying for a little over one year. Were doing IVF/ICSI due to DH severe low sperm count. I just started the pill this afternoon. My RE said if everything goes well, should have the ER by end of Nov and ET the beginning of Dec. I don't know about you but I am so overwhelmed especially with the amount of medications I need to take! We actually have an IVF orientation this week at my RE office to further review the meds and learn how to administer the injectibles. Im afraid to get my hopes up though because my DH still has to produce about 4 different sperm samples which they will freeze until My ER. Im nervous since he has not produced more then 5 sperm per sample but at least they were mobile! Anyway, I'm so happy to find others whom are going through the same cycle!! Looking forward to getting to know you all!!

We have an orientation too on the 6th. I am so nervous about it all. I am in day 19 of my menstral cycle so I am a couple weeks behind ya.

I am on day 25 in my cycle. I however don't have orientation to go to (that I know of yet) and am not taking Birth Control Pills, I wonder why? I do have my meds already as I was going to use them for IUI #2 with injections (my RE Nurse tells me that I can use those same meds for Stims for IVF). I just e-mailed my nurse to confirm that she knows I'm doing IVF and if I need to do anything else to prepare.
I'm excited that I'll have you both going through this with me as well, it's great to talk to people when you can't reach out to many locally because you don't want everyone to know your business.
Do either of you know if you need to be put out for your ER or can you stay awake?

Hi! My RE said he put me on BC so he can essentially regulate my cycle. I only take it for 1 month minus the placebo pills then I believe the injections start? My orientation is today so I will know more. Also I have no idea if the put you under for ER! I will definitely ask that today. I also just scheduled a hysteroscopy for next week. Did anyone have that before? I'm wondering what it's like. I will let u know what they tell me about ER!

Yes let me know how your orientation goes. From what nice heard they do sedate you during your ER.... But I've heard of people who were awake and just took Valium. I had a hysteroscopy when I had my endo removed in August, not sure why they r doing this for you but I'm sure there is a reason :-) I'd pretty much do anything I had to .... Best of luck!!

Wow! So much activity. So I'm going on BC for 2 to 3 weeks. They use it to both regulate my cycle (to help with timing of the egg retrival in case day X can't work with the doctor's schedule, they just have me take a pill more), and also supposedly we are most fertile the first month after we go off birth control. That's what my clinic told me anyway.

As for the office not knowing - it's funny mine was the same way. I told him I wanted to start IVF (not do IUI) and when I saw him he said "so you want more info on IUI?" I was like..um...no. I just had my tubes taken out! They got back up to speed, but it took a while for my doc and nurse to get the papers in order. Orientations may be something for large practices, the one I go to is the largest in the DC area. Smaller offices may just meet one on one to go through it all...

Interesting about the Birth Control, I see how they use it to regulate your cycle though never heard that your most fertile in your new cycle after stopping BCP's. Hmmm......but everyone's situation is different, so I'm just going to hope that my office knows what they are doing. It's a pretty big facility actually, it has three different locations.....but like I said, everyone's different right?
YAY, glad your RE is in the same path as you are, sometimes I feel they are overwhelmed with patients and they just simply don't remember everyone's details....

So the orientation went very well. We didnt meet with our RE but one of the nurses. I sometimes like talking to the nurses because they have that human side to them and are not all clinical! She took us through the entire process of IVF. She didnt miss a step. It was very overwhelming and I brought a notepad to write down some of the information. I know I'm going to keep thinking of new questions over the next few weeks! The other reason I had to have the orientation is to get blood work. I have had so much blood work in the past few months but since I just switched to my current RE from another group, they wanted to do more blood work. The other RE group did not check my egg reserve either or do the genetic testing for my DH.
As far as the ER, my RE uses local anesthesia. Afterwards, they usually just give Motrin or Tylenol. She said to expect cramping similar to cramps during your period. Than once its time for the ET, that is mostly painless but you have to be on bedrest for the next 24 hours.
I asked about why I need a hysteroscopy and she said my RE just likes a full picture of what he's working with! I think every RE office works differently. My friend is going to a RE and they do not have an IVF orientation.
I'm nervous and excited but I'm still afraid to get my hopes up! Everytime the phone rings, I keep expecting it to by my RE office telling me bad news!! I hate feeling like this. Has anyone heard of the side effects of the injectables? I know some cause bloating, fatigue, etc. What Im worried about is I read some of the meds increase anxiety and thats the last thing I need lol. Any ideas?

@Melry, yeah I hear that the meds have a lot of side effects. It's scary to know about the big ones (like Gulianna and Bill she got breast cancer) - but everyone is different. And not conceiving ever also has health risks for us. So moody? yeah, for some. fatigue? wait till we are pregnant! ha ha ha ha

so right now I'm waiting for AF. She's late! 3 days late. I'm getting cramps and headaches today so that's a good sign that my period is fast approaching, but it's killing me (or causing me to see double, not sure which).

Anyone else waiting patiently?

@Melry, I am on day 5 of injections (Lupron, Menopur, Bravelle) with really no side effects......the only thing I have been experiencing is a slight headache......but that's all. Don't worry, you'll be just fine. When do you start meds? I had my US/blood work this morning and had 3 follies on the right and some on the left that were still too small to measure, but there was some, so the meds are doing what they are supposed to do :-)
@endowife, YAY hopefully AF comes SOON!! Then you'll be on your way .......it's so exciting isn't it?

Hi! @adkgirl..... I am going to start the lupron injections on Thursday. Nervous but excited ! Than I have an appt next Thursday for an ultra sound and will be told when to start the next 2 injections. I'm going to be on Gonal and menopur for i think 2 weeks? I could be wrong. Thanks for the info about side effects. At this point I'm just anxious to get started!
@endo....I hope u get AF really soon!!!!!! I think this has been the only situation I have ever wished AF on someone! When I got mine last week I was so excited!!! Good luck!

I have done my climara patch for a few days, follwed by 3 days of ganirelix. I have my baseline bw and u/s yesterday and am now beginning 2cc microdose lupron 2x a day and 600 Gonal F at night...
