Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
for the future...if you DO NOT like the posts then step out, and leave be...
BUT for the love of God this is a support group, NOT a slagging match to get your thrills...
Z
I don't want to argue with you or with anyone. Yes, this is a support group, but when someone just keeps it and keeps it up they need to be told.
Maybe I'm just sick of hearing about it. Nothing against you.
Why don't we each nominate ONE other person...
THEN we each vote for ONE other person...
That way, everybody gets ONE vote and there is a million way tie...
And nobody wins, LOL
So, I'm off drugs, cry as soon as I start talking about what the school district did to me, and started sbschooltalk.com where there's an online revolution in education---I learned how to network on DS---and I honestly believe there are things about beeperism that should be harnessed for positive outcomes.
Santa Barbara beepers got together when ADMHSA cut off their services and supports---even their housing---rather than cut administrative salaries. Chutzpah.
The mobilization, comraderie, and empowerment has done a lot to get beepers active, motivated, and positively focused.
Instead of a board moderator, I vote for psych touchstone.
Has anyone laughed at how addictive this site can be and how counter-productive that is to beepereality?
Damn, I wish Santa would come through with that self-cleaning house wish. Sucks to sleep on those dirty sheets, don't it?
So PLZ, people, be nice. It's not her fault.
Also, everyone seems to be afraid of stuff that just won't happen. Any CL we get that starts being judgemental or bossy, we demand that DS get rid of them. What's the prob?
As I said earlier on, a good CL should never even be noticed. They should be stopping probs in the background before they even start. Also, anyone brave enough to take a CL job here would have to be much more afraid of us then we are of them :-)
Chill, folks!
hate to add to this thread to bring it to top again but it was seriously frying my already brain fogged filled brain. we are all adults - hate to be repetitive but again - no.
a CL could at least be tried for a week or two, and if it doesn't work, then just sack it.
Better to try it and say it doesn't work than dismissing the idea from the onset.
There would be no harm in giving it a trial run.
Some threads do become argument. Freedom of expression and all, but there's a difference between freedom and anarchy.
I personally don't think childish arguments should have any place on a support forum. Discourse is fine, but not insults.
I imagine some people will respond to this by arguing my point.
LOL
You have a good idea effer.
I don't see why something being speculative is a pejorative value for that thing to have.
I also think that something raising questions is also a good thing. Surely it shows that the thing in itself has a moral ambiguity that could be used either for the good, or for the bad?
Personally, I think it 'could' be a good thing. I mean, I posted once about feeling suicidal - some guy who doesn't like me replied by telling me to go off and do it. I don't think that kind of thing should be inflicted on anyone here.
Yes, people can always be reported, but it doesn't really do much good or make much difference, does it?
I also don't see a CL as an inhibitor of creativity.
I do think maliciousness between members should be banned.
But then there's the issue of what constitutes 'maliciousness'. But i'm sure a guideline could be laid down e.g. any comment which is meant to directly offend, upset, or aggravate someone (PS that's just an example, and not my concrete definition).
Paul,
My issue with CL's is simple. On the MS board, that I have have been a member of for close to two years, there have been groups of people who just simply don't like each other. When this topic first came up a coupe months ago myself and Heather1 were nominated to me CL's, and we both said NO. We get along with everyone, yet we come here to give and get support, not to WORK.
As far as the bipolar board goes...really? We do a fine job of taking care of our own. And honestly, how well do you think people suffering from BP can handle a position like CL? I couldn't. We. like any other group, have a few bumps here and there, but we handle it as a group, a family. No CL needed.
You need to understand, when dealing with a group of beepers, you put one or two people in charge on us, all hell will break loose. Some of us are paranoid enough, highly emotional, and this is a slap in the face. Our BP board is the place we feel free and at home. How are we supposed to feel that way is someone is constantly hovering over the delete button?
Thanks for listening. - Feisty
