I agree with curious and the others who say we don't need a leader, IMHO we are far too independent for that, besides there are other forums where they have that kind of thing.

Put my vote in the "No" column. Although I completely hate the sniping and backbiting that breaks out here at times, I feel it all plays out eventually with the troublesome person being removed.

Also, please note you can set up member groups. I set one up as a safe haven from people coming into widows and widowers who had no right to be there and were attempting to post for their own benefit.

Anyone can set up a member group. You can ban anyone who causes trouble. You can share those banning priviledges with others. However it leaves new joiners at the mercy of trolls and dilutes the main board.

It is however, always an option.

We're gonna get one whether we like it or not. They are taking applications in February. Sorry, folks.

After reading more of this post if they do put up a moderator or community leader it will definately be for the wrong reasons. Sounds and looks like someone just has pissy pants and wants to out people to me wrong idea!! Maybe if people didn't think they were all high and mighty stuff like that wouldn't have happened and haven't they heard of freedom of speech!

Just realized that there's posts here "offering" to be your CL. That's up for discussion, whether or not the person should be nominated by peers or chosen by admnins.
So some are already mounting campaigns it seems LOL!
And acuriousfish is right, the subgroups can be a great place, free from drama and judgement, etc. I've been running the Old Timers group for awhile now and it's been nothing but a positive experience. I know of some other sub groups that have equally good reputations.
