Beating Trich Community Group
You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.

Hi, My name is Sam and I'm new to this group. I am 23 and have had trich since I was 12. Over the years I have tried many times to stop, however it's only this past year that I have started to research ways of stopping, and have been really determined to do it. I plan on doing so with a combination of understanding, will-power, exercise, trying the John Kender diet, and seeing a therapist. I love designing, illustrating, cooking, extreme sports, exercising, seeing live music and reading. I would love to provide others with encouragement, and maybe get some support when I fall.

Well I've had some success! 2 days ago I pulled 2 hairs, yesterday I pulled 5, and today I've pulled 1 so far (11am).
I really give you strength to keep at this! It's rough trying to find what gives us the relaxation sensation and allows us to have our hair in one piece on the scalp where we want it to stay!
I think the more the media prints out the grey highlights, the easier it will be to find what works for us, that's my hope, anyways!
You've got this, you are strong, you are beautiful, your skin tone and hair match beautifully just as they are right now!
Oh mid, when I speak about triggers, I'm generally referring to emotional or physiological triggers. Eg stress, boredom, tiredness, hunger, frustration, anger etc etc.
Aiming for pf again today.
I mentioned the change from triggers, emotional...especially for me, that I don't know it's happening until I see the stress marker on eyebrow... does that make sense? I am learning to release the boredom (really sneaky it is), tiredness with relaxation, frustration with positive doing (even if all it is is counting), so yes, I'm working those same triggers, as well.
Here's to success, for everything you do, and keep doing!
Gr I pulled 30 hairs yesterday. Because I was back at my desk job. I'm there again today, have pulled 5. Doing better than yesterday. I used a lot of hairspray as a barrier. It's definitely helping.
Hairspray so thrilled for you that it works...I did the heavy gel and that worked for the ear. Hurrah for success!
I can't remember when I last posted.. a week ago maybe? I haven't been doing that well. I had those few good days then I slipped and continued to slip. Prob about 30 hairs a day. It's time to start being more diligent again. Bandaids really do help so I have to use them at least occasionally.
trichdr - yes barriers are very important while working. I need to step this up a bit.. Ah, winter is great for barriers like gloves and beanies :) And :-O indeed, when looking at a spot that don't normally see. Sucks.
Mid - Ah, that sounds yucky. I"m glad the gel worked for you!
Manda (again) - I think gel would definitely work, wax not so much (I occasionally use a wax-like pomade and that doesn't help). Yep, that damn motivation.. So slippery.
We are with you on this!
Stay strong!
Hmm I wore one bandaid yesterday and it helped a lot. I probably pulled about 20 hairs though. That's down from about 30 though!
